I doubt the police were after you. It seems to me that mushroom picking is a fairly underground activity not really noticed by most people, and considering the attitude of PNW people to "keep to themselves", we're pretty safe. I mean, how often do you see homeless people scrounging around doing weird shit? And nobody calls the police on them. If anything, just bring a camera and become a photographer :thumbup:

Good job on the find! Nothing like finding the Monster Patch.

Just a few pics of the sandblasted cyans from the Oregon coast. Don't know if it splashed up during the recent downpours or was deposited by the fierce wind but every cyan was coated in sand.

Not likely to find anything if I go. Those friends became enemies once I left. Well competition for the same resources at least. I'm over here in eugene and they actually live there.

I was amazed at how easy it was to find patches there. I've only found one place here that puts off - and everybody else goes there to pick as well. :frown: It's a sad - sad world. In a 2-3 hour hunt we found 3 cyan patches and two azure spots. I can spend a week here and not come out with much.

Went hunting with two different friends on two seperate occasions in the last 3 days. First friend I went with, we found a bunhc of amanitas, but no sillysibes.










The ones below the amanitas, he picked for the helluvit. What are those calld btw??



Second hunt, which was today, we found some amanitas



then drove into this little neighbor hood near by. I just had this feeling I was gonna find some. We see this big garden area with a big pile of alderwood chips in the driveway. DING DING DING!

I walk into the garden and notice no one is home. I then notice these people have a huge cage in the back yard with exotic wild felines! African Cervils and Lynxs. CRAZY! :eek:

as soon as I enter the garden, WAM! :mushroomgrow: :mushroomgrow: :mushroomgrow: :mushroom2:














The guy came home while I was picking them. I stood up, and thought "There's no way to get out of here without him seeing me. I should just walk up to him."

So I walked up to him and told him I saw that he has great substrate for mushroom growth, and that i'd like to pick some of them to take for study and examination. i also told him I was amazed by the exotic cats he had. He went on this long spiel about how him and his wife are like a refuge for them and they run this business thing. It was actually veryn interesting what he was telling me. Then he went inside after i met him and continued to pick. Then some other guy that was in the house was informed about what i was doing, and turns out this guy is studying mushrooms too!

Ohhh shit.

he started telling me he knows this kid who is getting into mycology and he needs a mentor. He starts asking me all these question sabout what I have and in i know the names of them and what professors I work with and all this shit. I'm HELLA caught up with this dude. Then i told him I'm not taking a class, I'm just doing this as a hobby. He kept telling me he'd knew to this and doesn't know much about them. Then he started comparing the gills on the cyans and other mushrooms around with me and stuff, then I let him take a pic of my amanitas and we talked a bit more.....:lol:...It was pretty interesting.

Overal, successful hunt :biggrin:

haha holy shit that is cool. ya got balls though just walking in peoples yards.
those are nice big mature specimens. the pics are very nice, the ones around that light green plant are especially kick ass. nice color contrast, alot of the time its brown cap against brown wood chips.

so something very awesome happened to me yesterday. as I was leaving my house, i noticed that this piece of metal that I had found a while ago( that has a shape of a face on it, that's why I took it) was covered in leaves. I thought to myself, I'm gonna move those leaves so I can see the face better and appreciate it. so I go over and move the leaves only to find some cyans inside the mouth! i was amazed! i pulled it back and discovered a few more! they were all rotten but the fact that they were growing in my drive way, not in a ideal locations/area at all.....is awesome! they probably came from some stem buts or old ones that I threw out last year. here's some pics of them!


anyway....I took a video when I went out 2 days ago just to show you the environment that I'm finding them in this time of the year. this spot is right down the street from my other big spot. same kinda environment. there's almost no wood chips if any at these spots. just grass and dirt. and they're hidden IN the grass EVERYWHERE. so you gotta really watch your step big time. it seems that these are still growing in full effect. we found a good  250 this time. i think its cause they re not getting that cold since they're insulated it seems like thanks to all the fucking grass they're under!but yeah, that's where I'm finding most of mine right now.



heres a few pics of some mycelium/pins that we got from a raped spot that my friend transplanted. they have at least tripled in size in the 5 days he has had them. they're doing great!

It kills me that I live on the coast and I still haven't found any actives :smile:

I've found a lot of neat mushrooms otherwise, though.  And your photos are all helping show me the types of places to look, but I think perhaps I'm getting hung up on that kind of habitat.  I'm over thinking it.

and keg another great haul! i made my way to whiterock yesterday to try the impossible. azurescens in BC! but i came up empty handed for those and anything else.

any azzie hunters,is this the right kind of dune grass?

Psylosymon, you would be my personal hero if you found azurescens here! I'd love to see a post pop up detailing your successful azzie hunt! Congrats on your recent cyan find btw.

My (probably overly ambitious) goal is to have an azurescens wood chip bed hidden somewhere near my place and fruiting next year. I really need to get on this. Probably naive of me to think I could sector a good fruiting strain on agar from a wild print and make a bunch of spawn from it, having never worked with agar, or grain.

No time like the present to try though, as I think my cyan season has come to an end. I went on a hunt today, back to my same spot. Its been two weeks since I been there last. The fruits were all small, a lot were rotting, despite being so small, some were frozen semi-solid, and I got a comparatively smaller haul; only around 40 fruits. Maybe someone got to the good ones first, but I think the spot is all flushed out. A disappointing hunt all in all, but good for a couple dry grams, enough for some of this :crazy2:Let the rest mature and drop their spores, I shall.

Shut up now - okay!

well you never know eh. nothing is written in stone i think its worth a try. i got some tips on what to look for next time. and i will definetly let you know if i do it.

ya it seems all my patches, whether,cyan,stuntzii or liberty are coming to a slow close.it sucks because today was so fucking warm.maybe ill just give it a few weeks if it stays like this.

Walking this afternoon with the dog and 2 blocks from my house
in a front yard.



They were all huge. More than 50% to far gone to eat, so I collected both the good and bad then took the bad and spread them deep into some alder mulch I knew of near by :smile:

Here is the largest of the bunch. All total was about 160g wet.

Not to bad for not even looking.
