Hey friend, avoid asking for specfic spots or hunting partners etc. Best advice I can give is read as much as you can on the forum's here, use google maps satellite and drive through the backroads as people have been discussing. Hanging out in threads here will teach you rather than being shown, in the long run you will be far more confident in your finds plus being comfortable in using this awesome site as a brilliant learning tool.

If it's a road with a bit of traffic I often take a garbage bag (and wear gloves) and pick up some rubbish as I go. I put an empty maccas bag in the garbage bag and put the mushies in that. Then not only do I look like I'm not hunting mushies, I'm doing a good deed too!!
Haha you sneaky little sausage you 😉

I know a good place to start.... the ground. No one is going to give you locations that they have worked hard to scout out themselves, use google maps/earth. It took me a day of research to find my first flush.

Hey guys, I've cast my eyes upon this forum for a year or so, but this season I went for my first solo hunt and this is my small yield. I was pretty confident when I picked these. I checked the signs multiple times. They are now dry and ready to go but I can't help but feel a bit anxious that I may have gone wrong. It's kind of holding me back from consuming! I know the picture is a bit rubbish but hopefully it looks good to your eyes too!
I did end up throwing away the two at the very bottom. I thought they weren't blueing from being water-logged but I still wasn't overly confident once they had dried a little.
There are definitely some silly subs in that photo. The two nearest do look a little like galerinas, but it's kind of hard to tell from the photo. The two biggest indicators for me are the blue bruising and the hard stems that are common with subs. Once you've noticed those, you can do a spore print to be doubly sure. After that though, you kinda of need to just commit. But just keep in mind, if you have a decent dose and you are worried about having consumed the wrong mushroom, it may lead to a bad trip. I remember being in your exact position.
First time hunting and consuming are the hardest, once you've gained that confidence in identifying the right mushroom, things get easier. Good luck with it dude and have fun

Hey all, been out and about checking known patches from previous years and scouting new ones, finally found my first active for the season.

and these guys as well, still not sure but possibly semiglobata or hopefully alutacea. Going to try to rehydrate to see if they mature - found on cow dung.

Some cool inactive species I've found along the way

Hope everyone is enjoying the season thus far.

Went night hunting for the first time last night!! The reason is this awesome new spot I've found is right next to a major road, so I was able to hide the torch against my chest each time a car came past.
Had a very successful hunt (found 60 odd) but had a very odd thing happen!
I found a wombat burrow in a bank along the edge of the area. Was standing 15ft from the entrance to the borrow checking out the cool way it was made, when all of a sudden there was a massive crashing through the bracken, 20ft to my right. It was the resident of said burrow who raced past me and into the burrow, only missing me by about 5ft. He never looked at me but I assumed he knew I was there! Scared the hell out of me and I think a little bit of wee came out!!
Happy hunting!

Most surreal experience the other day. Was out for a walk amongst the pines at sea level, not expecting see to any actives, just enjoying the scenery and all the inactives around. Low and behold, when I get close to the side of the road again, where the pines merge into needle grass and bracken, subs dotted everywhere along the edge of the road and a few metres into the bush. The most I've seen at once. Southern tas. Absolutely insane. Definitely a spooky spot though for someone not too educated in identification as the subs were placed all through a super diverse bunch of fungi. All different kinds. Enjoy these pictures of a few of the standout subs:). Didn't pick any, just admired and took photos.

One of my favorite patches keeps getting eaten and kicked out the bed onto the ground, find lots of caps with no stems and pins just laying around the outside of the bed. I can only assume its an animal anyway. Have only got to pick three myself, all the rest are salvaged.

Yes this is definitely getting silly! Been away for 5 days and after all that rain I thought I'd stop for a night hunt on the way home from work! Found about 60 at only 2 of my 8 spots!
Had a bit of a cop scare though! Was picking in the scrub next a road and a police 4wd turned onto the road I was on and stopped about 20m from me!! I had about 10 in one pocket and was a bit hidden so I turned my torch off andslowly turned away, removing them from my pocket and gently tossing them into a bush. Was shitting myself until after about 10sec they turned around and drove away!!

{My first post here so hopefully I ain't screwed it up} Finally, after muchly much anticipation the season up the northiest north of Tas has finally kicked off, been haunting my favourite spots for a few weeks now and nothin' not a pin to be seen but after that last good rain the beautiful L'll critters are starting to get over their shyness, some of my bestest spots just have happened to turn out be on my own property { YAY } and I am encouraging by all means at my disposal to get these areas to go forth and multiply in as many places as possible, sometimes Mother Nature needs a helping hand
PS: to celebrate one year of bein' on Shoomery I indulged myself with a rather epic trip {4.5 gram fan dried for 24 hours, finished for another 24 in a desiccant box} from the first of this seasons offerings, and it was bloody wonderful }
