After checking random spots first, I ventured back to my favourite area today - it didn't disappoint. It's incredible how much these mushrooms vary in shape, colour and size.
The white, dry and conical in shape ones are my favourite. I usually find them by the side of the road amongst eucalyptus leaves and sticks

Good morning to the Tassie Crew
I have recently moved to Tassie from Victoria, and I'm wondering if any of you know whether the rainfall is sufficient through any of the Southern Midlands area (Rhyndaston area), to support Subs, or whether this is just a lost cause and I'll really need to head south or west to higher rainfall areas? I knew my spots in Victoria, starting from scratch here..... Thanks for the Tassie thread, it's much appreciated, and best of luck to you all. Cheers OrinocoWomble72

More than enough up your way, my locations are closer to your area and at higher elevations, there will be plenty up that way at the moment. Depending on where you lived in VIC it’s unlikely to find subs growing out of suburban wood chip in TAS. Tas, gullies, walking tracks with eucalypts or pine plantations in your area are your best bet for subs down here.

Welcome to the best place in the world!!
I live in the South East and went out for a hunt this morning at my spots which are mostly at sea level and only found 10 or so. I think we still need a solid day or so of rain and some colder weather to really kick off the non mountain season. I plan to make a trip up your way for a day of hunting but will wait a couple more weeks.

Thanks heaps for that. It's good to know, because the drier areas in Vic are hopeless, and Rhyndaston only has an annual rainfall of a bit over 600mm which is around the same as Canberra, so I thought I might be wasting my time here. I'm at about 600metres on my property. I shall give it a go here though, and hopefully find some good spots. Have a great day - Cheers

Thanks for getting back to me - that's much appreciated. Based on the replies I'm getting, I'll spend some time searching close to home then, before I venture further afield. I'm time poor so trying to make the most of the time I can spend shrooming. Have a great day - Cheers

I have really good luck in the SE along country roads where the soil was built up a bit to clear the road and there are plenty of gum tree or bracken rotting matter. I have found them right next to the beach on the East Coast so rainfall isn't really that much of a key.

Was in South Hobart today for work and had some time to kill between jobs so decided to have a look at a popular spot. Was sure I'd find nothing as the uni kids would of stripped it clean but came away with 20g wet after 30min hunting

Couple pics from today lmao.
Favourite pinset of subs I’ve ever found, solid flush of 15-20:
Regular bush subs, plus a couple weird phenotypes.

Am I not very bright? Or is it a mission to post a pic or two on here, I can’t figure it out or it just won’t work for me.
