It seems Cubensis season is slowly underway then hmm? I have only searched for subs in the past though I've got an urge to go hunting. Thinking of taking a drive up Hunter Valley way sometime next week and scoping out some areas to look once the season starts picking up.

went to field and got about 30 cubensis in a quick pick but a young bull started to charge me so had to jump the fence and go home.. lucky it wasnt a big bull charging full speed, it just slowly charged towards me
unfortunately didnt find the cyans that i thought were in the field i thought i saw. could only find cubensis and was about a day late at picking most of them. only a few were just opened and not wide open old caps

yea theyre cubensis. cubensis are easy to ID by being a yellow/orange top and white with blueing when u squeeze the stem.
the only other youll find in your area are panaeolous cyancens which have gold/oraneg top sometimes but not as much as cubensis... usually when i find them they wont have orange/gold but will be white. also with blueing when squeezing stem

also try not to pick ones which are in the pinhead stage... wait till atleast the stem has broken off the gill. come back the next day for the ones that are still joined at the stem ring/gills

First time there were mushrooms in the field - woo. I picked a few types as I was super excited. Bit new to this, could #1’s be cubensis? #2’s something good? I’m thinking I should have left #3’s there at a wild guess.
Should I post in other section to ask for TI ID? Hunter region. Toward the coast.
TIA 🐮

#1 looks like pans. The others aren’t active. #2 looks like paneleous foenisecii maybe. Not active # 3 aren’t active shrooms.
For all the newbies. Take spore prints too the spore colour helps to identify as well. And photos where they grew before you pick them.

Good to see some newbies joining the hunt. A mate hit the jackpot up Gold Coast way. So nnsw should be popping. I’ll be out soon as the humidity kicks in. Today was too cold and wet.

Hey guys, Bit of a novice hunter and asking for some advice. I'm trying to learn the difference between the dung growing panaeolus varieties. I can usually identify panaeolus cyanescens with 99% certainty. But I noticed these guys fruiting the other day and am wondering if they are sneaky panaeolus cinctulus.
This photo in the grass was taken the day before I actually went and picked these other guys, I'd already filled my container with cyanescens and came across these guys in the grass. Assumed they were not active but upon further research I think there is a chance! anyway what do you experts say?
There are some baby dried cyanescens & some cubes It's the 3rd lot that really interests me.

Nice photos Nosebleed. I have found those as well. I’m not sure if they are cinctulus either. I didn’t keep mine. But wait for a trusted identifier to tell you before chucking them. If they are they you already have prints of them too.
