ID request please - day 2 -NSW - Australia
    #27561322 -

Mid north coast area.

All were growing where cows have been.

The big gnarly #1's were in long grass and old dung.

All the others were different area and shorter grass with dung, fallen branches and wood debri around them.

I found panaeolus cyanescans day before similar area.
I went to a differt place same region and thought they all looked like panaeolus cyanescans again when picking but not now, only some are bruising blue..

Many thanks in advance kind people.

I think that the big white ones (which have turned dark with age) are Panaeolus cyanescens.

The other brown coloured mushrooms look like some other Panaeolus.. maybe papilionaceus?

I’m a bit of a noob though so wait for someone else to confirm

More photos after 24hrs.

#1's - I'm feeling good about the ones on the left, the big black ones on right not so sure..
#2's Also feel good about these, although bottom right ones are super mushy and leeching ooz. So i might toss them away..?
None of these seem to be dropping too many spores.
#3's - no colourful bruising.
And i guess i have atleast one active in #4's (top left) as it is bruising nice colour..

I think I can still see some blue bruising on the big ones on the right in picture #1. They might just be freakishly big ones 🤷🏼♂️

I’d throw out any that aren’t bruising blue at all. You’ve still got a pretty good collection of cyanescens there by the look of it.

Try drying them quicker if possible so that they don’t start rotting and oozing like you say

The big ones on the right might actually be Panaeolus antillarum if they aren’t noticeably bruising blue.. which are edible but not active

The rotten ones were sloppy when I picked them.
The others seem to be drying ok.
I might give them a go in the oven on low with door open.

Careful not to cook them.

A fan or just a well ventilated area usually does the trick.. that’s if it’s not crazy humid 😊

Yeah right, howd you take the vid of me and make gif?
Amazing.
I didnt eat them yet.
But the world seems kinda wacked.
So maybe just finding them and picking them has done the job i reckon.
ID'd - confirmed - super gnarly unknown powerful thing...:ooo:

I have chucked most the slimy rotten ones, all the #3's and #5's. Kept one #4, most the #2's.

I like to think i have learnt a little bit in 5 minutes from this lovely forum so went out and picked a few more of what im sure are more #1's because they bruised blue and look the same, white speckles on stems, growing proper out of dung, albiet with slightly browner tops.
That was a chilled and more fun experience than picking wildly.

Seems like different Panaeolus are a bit tricky to tell apart growing but easier once picked at home.

I reckon i got it right last pick, i just got 3 right little ones, but better than 33 with 30 wrong ones aye?
Too much info? Sorry. I'll try to keep next ID request short and sweet. Lesson learnt.

Thankyou.

I see Panaeolus (Copelandia) Cyanescens & maybe some Panaeolus Cinctulus group, all are safe to consume

There are no known Toxic sp of Panaeolus group

The black colour is from spores that were dropped onto the caps.
I’m thinking either Panaeolus cyanescens or Panaeolus antillarum. Either way they’re safe to eat... one will just make you trip balls.

Copied from Wikipedia Panaeolus antillarum article: Panaeolus cyanescens can be distinguished from antillarum by the thinner, grayer cap and blue bruising.

Sounds like the way to ID this one might be to eat it.

Whereas i really enjoy hunting them, i'm kinda scared to trip, never really have, perhaps I am tripping all the time naturally i reckon!
So I don't want to mess that up, I'm fine with permanent big imagination powers.

He weighed 15gram wet and has gone to 0.5gram under the fan for 4 days.
If i eat 50% i should be able to know one way or the other i guess.
Good fun.

You have a mixed collection of Panaeolus species on the paper towels,  the ones that have obvious bluish bruising are Panaeolus cyanescens,  there are some nonactive Panaeolus in that 3rd picture, the last picture I can't say exactly what you have but they are not active from what I can see
