Found two dry ones and a freshie in the Dublin mountains. The freshie was tucked in right by a log. Been scoping out locations and praying for rain! First time shrooming

Had a good search this morning at >300m in the South West. Good conditions. Cool and after yesterday's rain. Very new to this. The take away today was that there is such a thing as "too much grass" where it gets very hard to search.
Found these specimens in a couple of fairly concentrated groups. Most look a bit beat up but happy with them.
Images show the same group - just one with flash and one without.

Found a handful of libs again yesterday. At altitude. Hard going for slim rewards.
Due to check out what's reported to be a regular spot for them soon. Hopefully the rain and now sunshine will bring them out. Though I guess it'll bring out other hunters too!

Checked some spots today. One really came up trumps. Around 150m up on a rough, open sheep pasture. In the South West. About 65 libs.

Hi All,
Totally new to this forum and i am struggling to navigate.
Picked a selection of mushrooms today and i am hoping to identify them as liberty caps or not. I know this is probably not the page if someone can point me in the right direction that would be appreciated.
Picked them on the Belfast hills, grass land fields, approx 250m.

Hello all. It's been 30 years since I hunted for mushrooms. My memory might be a bit foggy. Collected these in my garden in Dublin mountains today. Was up there mountains with no luck but came home day in the garden a bit discouraged. Thought I better cut the grass soon and then spotted these over beside the rise trees. Right under my nose all along. Are these magic enough.

Thanks. Picked a few more today and had them identified in the id thread. Got my first 3 libs, though very small. Top right.

I will try and get out again this week!

Sand-storm is right, you've got a few imposters in there including Deconica, Panaeolus, and possibly some other species. Mostly libs though.

Cool! Is that a stone circle? Be careful not to reveal the specific location as that is against the rules, but it would be cool if if was.

On this occasion it was a "stone row". I did find some more the day before near a stone circle. I was on a road trip round the country, visiting ancient sites. Found the libs by chance and, also by chance, had a mini trip on 7 caps followed by an orange. I guess I orange-tekked them but clearly these were very potent first flush specimens.

Finding loads in the field here beside my house without much effort. 20/30 a morning when taking the dog out.
Yet another pro of moving from Dublin to Wicklow!

Ok so went up again to the same spot last week and found a few not many but they were so hard to find because it was soaking wet still. The sun was out last week and it was so much easier to spot them as they were drier and all you needed was a little cream/white spot and you were good. I need to find another spot in wicklow to suss out before the season ends. Also this is my first time picking. There has to be sheep shit in the field to find anything at this stage 😂. If anyone has good spots in dub/wicklow mnts let me know 😂.
Also how do you guys prevent farmers/onlookers getting suspicious when out picking? We are in farmers fields/tresspassing technically?

What I learned to do is to just keep on picking and act like it is a perfectly normal thing to do... because it is! Simple! If they approach to you then be respectful and do not argue, show some class.

Hi, Just found this forum, wish I had earlier!
Just wondering if anybody still hitting shrooms? I'm in the South, had very poor luck this year, fields that produce regularly have yielded practically nothing to date. I'm clinging to the hope that its just been too warm and the imminent colder weather will trigger them. Night time temps have been in the teens for the last month more or less.
Anybody have luck in the South?

I’m still finding some in Dublin even tho the frost hit us. Didn’t find much yesterday, but managed to get 36 in an hour. It was hard to spot them tho as it was pretty wet. I’ll give last try again today

Lads, whats the story. How would you rate the year? Anybody have luck in munster?
Had a terrible year, seeing loads of posts from the uk of it being a bumper year I can't figure it out. Was it just the weather.
I must have went looking 30+ times in spots i know produce checking each regularly and basically only found a lot once in mid October, besides that only the odd straggler. I really only started looking a week or so into October, was I too late? I went with the normal timing even though I kinda thought as the weather was so warm they would be late anyway. They literally haven't shown up at all in some spots.
Would love to know others take on it. Driven mad from the things!
