A bittersweet first find of the spring season for me. Was checking on a drainage hole in the bottom of a planter I had made a couple months ago. I was moving so I had to gather up a mulch bed I had going into a big planter. Wanted to see how healthy the spawn was and to transplant a little bit. Barely scraped any out of one drainage hole and I rip these pins out. I’m stoked my projects seem to have worked and for what’s to come in the following weeks... though I wish I had been a bit more patient. Alas it is what it is

Well I didn't wanna drop off without a good pic to drool over but beta knight smashed my most photogenic patch. Lucky I didn't put all my eggs in one basket taking him on as a padwan

Least he left a few pins to grow. But after being called on it like he was for robbing me, he immediately smashed another patch he said he left to be nice... good way to prove a point about being a thief...
I'm just really bummed by interactions in person with some of the people on this forum in person. Sk8, joust, and a few others yall are homies for life and I love yall but everyone else keep this shit on the forums don't meet anyone on here or show them anything unless you're willing to get burned. Like we learned with Andrew yosi and his antics stay clear of bad news.
Best of luck for the season to yall. I'll prolly check back in round fall to see some pin porn.

Anyone seeing any new patches form this year?
So far I've only been able to find them in established patches.

No new patches for me but I haven’t really gotten out a whole ton. This is my second season hunting this species. Nonetheless, check out this cool mutation from my first modest haul this season. The ovoid probably would have walked away had I not picked him. 🤙

I love the big chonkers that keep growing from wet mulch in dry weather and get the splits. Just a bunch of we're doing this, fruiting is going to happen.

Yes, they are such a hearty species determined to fruit that’s forsure! Here is the habitat picture of where the larger specimens were thriving.

The PNW ovoids look so sick! Thanks for the pics and thanks to those that are helping them propagate!
Sorry to see all the drama... I just wanna say that I got in touch with someone from these boards who showed me the ropes, and we went on to make some good finds together, sometimes real good comes from trusting a stranger, even considering you might get burned.
Also it's never too late to make amends if you can be humble, after all we're united here over a common goal. Even though we fuck up and be little pricks sometimes, at the end of the day we wanna help the genus propagate so that it can help us

Been trying to spread as many stem butts to suitable mulch beds as possible this season. Getting a better idea of what areas are best to plant them. Here’s a few other shots

Thanks buddy! I also love it when they get those light green hues. Hopefully I will have some pictures of some successfully transplanted spots or planter projects. I also hope to see more people posting finds here in the pnw. I know spots are really starting to pick up.

While I'm waiting for a positive ID still, based on a find last night I would also recommend looking for places with sprinkler activity. It's kind of wild how much that can just undo the effects of dry weather- although I guess that is also very obviously the point, lol. I found way more mushrooms in one spot than I'd seen almost anywhere else, including a few different non-actives.

Sprinklers are the spots where I find large flushes. For ovoids it really helps when there's poor drainage and the spot gets kinda marshy. Find a spot where it's chipped up a hillside and at the bottom with sprinklers. Drop some spore solution or stem butts in there and watch it go.
