newbe said: yeah I'm kind of new to this but spent the last two days collecting mushrooms. I have a book but it's not so helpful, I'm living in seaside or, so I go for miles along the coast and have found Apr. 25 kinds. I was looking for amanita muscaria, but I think I'm to late, so what kind of shrooms are here now and where do they grow, and where are the Psilocybe cyanescens.
In your area, you can find Cyanescens in woodchips and Amanitas at the base of pines. Amanitas are definately still growing, I just found some today. I dunno if Azurescens and Fibs grow in your area but you should use the SEARCH function to find out. Look through this thread for more info on how to find cyans and ID cyanescens.
You can get some IDs for the ones you already collected by posting in an independant thread in the hunting forum. Get pictures of them.
Good Luck

HI,
This is my first year to hunting cyans I found about 4 dried OZ so far I don't know if that's good(I'll try and post some pictures soon). I ran into bitterpill out hunting today and he pointed me toward posting on this site. I have taken several prints from the ones I have collected does anyone know how viable it is to start these from print and how you go about it?

Yep 4oz dry is a good haul. There are some good guides on making and using spore prints in the mushroom growing information section of this site.
Good to meet you today, maybe we'll bump into each other again someday.

IT is veryt hard to get P. cyanescens growing indoors. There are some fotos in my cultivation section at my site.
Outdoor transplants workl a little better. I use4 to get 2-3 out of every ten i made produce a small crop ont he following year. S starting from spores for cyans, that is for a skilled cultivar to work at, and so fat it is not feasable.
Anyway, good luck. I found a half pound fresh yesterday at a new location.
happy seasons greetings, and ta-ta, mate.

I know this is the Fall thread, thought I'd share though. When I lived in the Everett, Washington area i found cyans in late February after and during frost. It was a relatively dry and cold fall/winter. On another note, after many weeks and miles I have yet to find an active within the Umpqua River valley. Washington was definitely easier pickins, but the fun for me is in the hunt anyways.

I was walking through my neighborhood and found a huge patch P. cyanescens growing out some beauty bark that had spilled through a fence into an alleyway. Unfortunately most (about 60) of them were a blue-black color I collected the ten or so that weren't completely dessicated, but I keep wondering about those others.. are they any good or should I leave them be and wait for new pinners to sprout?

Take em. Unless they are so old that they fall apart when you pick 'em, they do the job.

no offense, but I think that would be incredibly stupid of people. try to keep the self-incrimination to a minimum, kids. publically admitting to felonies isn't "tite". the only reason I can think of that we'd all need to know how much you picked altogether is so people can have a pissing match of sorts . use your head(s), please. we don't care how much shrooms you have stored away and if you must discuss it with people on the internet for some strange reason, do it by pm or some way where the entire world can't read it and think we're a bunch of drug dealers. Is it not enough to just say it was a good season and anyone that hunted a bit found plenty? DH

Frankly, no, since this would have to go into the Psilocybe cyanescens: Official Winter 2005 Thread
