not all of my patches are fruiting, prolly only 1/4 - 1/2. its still early, i didnt even bother really looking hardcore until the end of october last year! so being that you're further south i wouldnt get too discouraged yet! it's prolly just a tad too warm down there...

TRANSPLANTING QUESTION:
I got a small stick covered in mycilium and thousands of little pin headed mushrooms and about 4 babies on it. How do I transplant this to my yard so they will grow there every year?

ANYONE KNOW?

Thanks Psilygirl, I'll try it. Finially, I can post some images on the Official cyan thread. This weekend was a blast! Nothing like throwing the frisbee for The Kalackala and tripping around shrublines with a Meadownymph for caramels. We found bountiful new patches as well as a variety which I have never seen before. They were cyans alright: greenish in color, potent, and crumbled in your mouth when eaten fresh. I'll post some images and quit trying to describe em'.
Kalackala ready to try the next spot." Pant, pant... let's go Papa."
A curious small green-brown patch. I had to be careful not to compress the soil around them because they're so hard to see. They don't get big.
A pic of one drying at 3 o'clock.
This patch was under TALL grass. The caps are the biggest I've seen.
Two premo wavy caps. They were eaten on the spot.
As slugs eye view.
Me after smoking a bowl at the park.
This post, nor the author of this post do not condone eating any green-brown mushroom, ever. I am curious if anyone knows more about this phenomenon of cyanescens.
Happy Hunting All. Superman died, but we're in full swing.

Nice pics Borelis. Your dog has identical markings to my cat. Creepy. I found a tiny patch of cyanescens, mostly pins, and only picked a few of the big ones. Ate one on the spot myself. Because of your advice I found them. I was at a spot I'd been at before and was on my knees digging up leaves and branches, and under some leaves I found em. I know there was more around but I wasn't feeling greedy today, just wanted to get enough for some friends and myself to have a mushroom trip, and that is exactly the plan. Also because of your excellent advice, I cut the shrooms instead of picking the mycellum stuff. I should have some pics soon, a digital camera is on the way!
Thanks to everyone here for such great advice and creating such good resources. When I first set out to find mushrooms I had no idea what I was doing and had many misinformed beliefs. A few months of study, directed by the advice of some of you guys, and great resources like mjshroomers page, and now I could ID lots of stuff, am smart enough to know what I can't ID and why, have found several species of edibles, some psychedelics, some amanitas, and have gained a deeper appreciation of not just mycology, but nature in general. Now I want to learn about trees and wildlife too. Thanks all. You guys rock. As mjshroomer would say I'm off to have a shroomy day.

so how much of these should i take for a good trip, and how long should i wait before dosing again. i swear i have only gotten one medium trip even when i eat like 5 or 6. is it just me, or is there some secret to doing it right? it might be because im crazy and eat a few every chance i get. I tell you what though i got all my negative issues i have been hiding from out in the open now. any advice is great, thanks

when you ate 5 or 6 grams, was it cubensis?
if thats how much you commonly ate for cubensis, i recommend eating roughly half that amount in cyans, as the potency is about twice as high.

Hey I would never dream of telling you how many to take, however I completely relate to your post. I stepped it up 4 more and then whoa nellie, buckle up , butter cup. I was tired of just giggling and yawning and tearing. (Talking about cyans by the way.) Finally. I could experience something that didn't leave me questioning some wierd secret immunity to psillies. No doubt in miy mind then that I had arrived at some place I hadn't arrived at before. ciao

Just ibecause the stems of your finds look blue to you, does not mean that they are REALLY blue. I speak from experience about that. Just in case they pass your blueing test, I wanted to post a picture of a spore print to compare your finds to.
Happy hunting and don't eat any new shroom without having it ID'd properly first.

Check my earlier post in this thread. The environment is discussed at length by others too in this thread. You just need to keep looking smart, starting with wood chip mulch education and identification. There will probably be some leaves in these areas. It's working for lots of us here. It can for you too.

i guess teh problem here is that all the parks/gardens in my area use conifer mulches. the only places i have found any sort of alder wood/"chips" is in clearcuts/forests. so im digging.
anyway thanks for teh help. i think im jsut going to bite my tongue and go to butchart garders and see whats growign in their gardens. im sure there is tons of alder used there.

I don't think it's a hard and fast rule. Admittedly it's not the healthiest patch ever, but the ones in my garden grown on a bit of leaf mulch (magnolia) & grass:

you really shouldnt use a dehydrator on ur haul, it degrades them because its using heat even if its just a little. fan dry them and then when most of the water has evaporated you could use dry ice or even a big tub od dry right drying desicant. just a suggestion...

Well shite! That's how I dried my first batch!
I saw so many on their drying trays I just assumed that would be the best way.
I've also been wondering about the best way to STORE these once dried. I am assuming a tight mason jar in a cool, dark place!? What about the freezer once they're dried and in said jar???
Opinions???
Always up for a heated debate and besides... I need the info!
L
After actually READING the pages I missed...I see about the fan drying and the dessicator. Good idea BTW! Do you store them that way??? With the dri-rite???

i dry them the rest of the way with the dry right till they are bone dry then i put them in zip locks inside mason jars and keep them in bottom of my closet. as long as its a cool dry dark place thats all you need, just dont put them where it gets hot. wish i lived out there, i prolly will be moving to the north west oregon coast in the next year maybe i can bring you guys some weilii from the north georgia mountains...
