So this is probably mildly off topic but i figure this is the best place to ask this question with all the hunters around: It seems like the Cyanescen hunting is generally a significantly "bigger thing" in the Puget Sound than Portland. I imagine this has to do with there being more of an abundance than in PDX (doug fir vs. Hardwood chips).  I read about people in seattle Seeing lots of other hunters and such. Ive been hunting PDX 3 years and only seen other hunters once or twice. Anyone agree? From experience or observation? im just curious.

I've been hunting for 2 years and I've only encountered one other hunter, and he was a homeless dude who appeared to be severely intoxicated...so. Not to mention in my town there aren't very many kids/college age kids. For the most part it's people 45 .

what town you in?

and also, about the ninja/blatent thing.....why do we need to be secretive and have "excuses"?  I mean, you realllly think we'd get into trouble?  Ive had people ask me what im lookin for in parks, and i just tell em....????  it seems crazy that we could actually get into trouble from picking wild growing cyanescens...am i just in my own little world?

Im also the guy cruising around seattle on my bike, running stop signs and red lights on my bicycle, while drinkin a beer, in front of cops.  cops just never ever ever give me shit in seattle and seem pretty chill, so i never worry about them when im just doin my thing and not buggin anybody.

that IS one thing i have to say i like about seattle since i moved here 3 years ago.  where im from, you really feel like cops are yout to get you...and since ive been here, cops have never fucked with me, only been helpful and super chill.

not that im some fuckin cop lover, just sayin.

that table full of shrooms....insane!  awesome.

im goin out tomorrow for a full day, wish me luck, i havent found any actives yet :/....and ive been out nearly every day for 2 weeks boooooo.  im prolly the guy you guys watch walkin by shit.  i like to think im not...but maybe i am :frown:

The cops in seattle are so laxed. The seattle police chief is the drug czar even though seattle has the largest hemp fest in the country. I love the PNW except for the small the mayberry type towns with old barney hiding behind the bushes

Thanks for posting the habitat pics. Ive been to warrenton several times this season and didn't know where to look. Went last friday and a van of russians pulled up behind me got out lined up about arms length and raped the area of everything, well not everything but there wasn't much left that hadn't been picked or stepped on.

I've been out in my woods daily and can't find anything but cool looking shrooms that don't mean anything to me... the only actives I have found were these 4 or 5 ps. Cyans in this guys yard i walked by the other day... but there's no really GOOD SPOTS that i've found yet... I'm afraid they'll all be gone by the time i find a decent spot. i live in Blaine, which is like, the Smallest little NW Corner. I don't believe there are too many people out and about in my small town "Hunting" but i sure get looked at funny by all the old people when I'm walking down the road and all of a sudden I'm now bent over behind a rhodey bush Staring at the ground... Some of you guys South of me though... Your finds have been Awesome.

There are tons of people in Blaine hunting.  Most are coming from WWU.  You'll find a patch or two or more...  Keep looking.

great job watts! and the rest of you fellows

and congratulations wiscokid! that is fucking epic. can't wait to see what you can do with the cyan spores i got comin to you. i'll mail those out tomorrow.

in other news - i found a new patch today! not nearly as big as some of my other ones, but picked 85 mature cyans and left a bunch of pins and teens. too bad i didn't find it sooner - i found at least 50 that were past their prime. all black and icky. icky is the correct scientific terminology right? i think this patch will be a pretty decent producer. i can't believe no one else has found it yet... of course most people are looking in the areas with perfect cyan habitats, and all my patches this season have been in places you wouldn't quite expect them. seems lots of you guys are experiencing the same thing. it sure is confusing the shit out of the noobs! here's todays modest haul - i should have better pics from another patch tomorrow

decent sized cyans - check out the nickel for size comparison

Confusing the shit out of me is right.

Posting these for my friend s_henanigan_s who just found these up in Bellingham, WA. No finds for me yet but I'm definitely lookin'. BTW the smaller mushie was picked early because these were found on a walking path and would have been picked asap by somebody else. Anybody interested in hunting sometime soon? I'm near campus.

I had my first ever find yesterday after 5-6 unsuccessful attempts. We found 2 big patches with about 200 Cyans total right in the middle of a Seattle city park where a bunch of kids were running around nearby. We felt it was my civic duty to pick them  We left the pins tho.  This site and BB has been extremely helpful in learning what types of habitats to looks in. Thanks!

So,SO, very happy to be back after four years in the desert(Arizona):(. Moved to Beaverton(Portland) 6weeks ago. Hardly any rain since arriving. Visited Tacoma and spent a few hours hunting in the burbs. Looked very wet but no success. Visited Eugene and again, Wet and foggy. Only good spot I saw was too close to a high school. Came back home upset that the weather was so dry here. Got to reading this thread last night and had a smile on my face. 4 seasons lost and hating it every fall. Went to bed with the wind blowing hard. I was praying for rain. Bam! Pouring buckets when I awoke.
Dropped my daughter off at daycare. Immediatly found 4 juvies and a nearly mature next to their playground. juices got flowing and the hunt was on. Took 2 hours before I hit the jackpot.(No pics today) Actually was giving up and called my dog back in for breakfast time. What us this next to the car? LOL, how did I miss that? 30 grams of Cyans and plenty more for the future waiting to grow up. GF and I will enjoy this greatly when she gets off work tonight.
Just wanted to thank this community for keeping my hopes alive. Also wanted to let the Portland area members know that we are late, dont give up hope. BTW. Found 5+ lbs of Chantrelles east of Eugene without much effort. Minus the 5 yellowjacket stings(ouch!)

God damn! bellingham has a lot of cyans
it rained like mad today and i got soaked, but it was worth it.
sorry the pics kinda suck.

found these on accident before my hunt today, over a hundred college students walk right by these everyday... doesn't seem like anyone has picked any either.

these were five feet away and appeared to be fucked with by someone

If you ride around in the rain long enough you will be rewarded.

lots of pins around this spot

some dope-ass spore art, courtesy of some old nasty cyans.

all together i found four new patchs today, two were only pins and the other two are very promising.

go ahead, get your feet wet!

No luck in PDX.
I've spent an entire day hiking around. First went to some rural state parks east of town, found enough edibles for a good meal, saw some deer, but no cyans. Then I checked some urban parks in the Hollywood district, very disappointing, the grass there grows right out of the mud, so there aren't many mushrooms, let alone cyans.
I love the outdoors, and it was a great activity to do with my girlfriend. Will try different parks next weekend (weather permitting).
