I got super lucky and found an amazing patch in the spring an it's my first year hunting them. But I ran into a guy that was hunting them while I was so that kind of sucked but the area is plenty big

Hey everybody it's good to see the thread is still kicking.  I've been AWOL for a while but damn!  Checked the 7 bags of mulch I spread out and started with live mycelium in the spring and its fully colonized totally solidified with big ropy mycelium, bruises and everything I'm gonna have to throw some more mulch on top.  I covered it with leaves and when I raked them back I was like WHOA SHIT!!

It's finally rained nicely here in Central Europe the last 2 days. I will be checking my Cyanescens (and Ovoid) patches regularly. Although I don't think the Ovoids will fruit this fall, planted them a bit too late.

The nice thing I've discovered about Cyans is this - they can tolerate very low humidity levels. They certainly don't like it, but they survive it - even the summers here in CEU. If you take the myc and dry it out completely, it's dead, but it does tolerate low humidity for some reason. They surely enjoyed the rains and must be growing like crazy now, I'm just hoping they'll fruit.

Does anybody here have a surplus of ovoid prints? Because my dumb ass assin ass didn't think to take a savable print this year, and I really want to grow some out on agar. I will trade a gym swab for it.

Guess what I found???? Central Virginia along the James river. Sorry for the shitty picture we were collecting black trumpets, chicken of the woods and pawpaw. We were so close to our ovoid spot we checked it out and poof.  Checking all 12+ of my spots tomorow. I don't expect much but hey there's a chance!

No I haven't. What made you think of this? Wouldn't that be funny if some shit we find panning is the direct link to ovoids. Or better yet if ovoids were a sure fire way to locate gold. Anyhoo. i've done some panning around VA and found some tiny flecks of gold along with one picker for about ten or more hours of work...but creeks on which people have found gold aren't the creeks at which i find ovoids. :shrug:

hunting soil for nuggets is possible in VA and i know a guy that makes a pretty damn good living at it because he stays hot on it, but it's best left to metal detectors like the minelab GPX4500 and above.  as you can see they're pretty pricey and that's not even the best of them.  the GPZ5000 is upwards of eight grand with all the bells and whistles but that machine is a waste on the east coast USA.

My dad wasted so much money on metal detectors at one point. At least a few grand. I think he still has a minelab and tesoro. Makes me want to pull metal from the ground.

Hey all!  Hope everyone is doing well and had a decent summer.  Looks like peeps are getting ready for the fall flush.  Won't be long now, just a month or so.  Sweet find Wubble!  The grass and stuff is still a lil too tall around here to make it worthwhile.  I'll prolly wait till the first big frost before I go looking for the fall fruits.  Who know's when that'll be though with the weather we've had this year.  Things have been pretty cool and wet, for a change.  The chants went crazy this year and was able to find them in really good numbers, compared to last year.  I'll be watching the weather like a hawk and will get out to my spots prolly in like a month or so.  Let's all put some good vibes into this fall and hopefully all will be successful.

That's what I was wondering.
I'll give it a try. Because some of my ovoid spots grow where sand is deposited fresh every spring. I swear I've seen black sand at some of my Ovoid spots. Black sand is key. Anyone got any pics of any blackish sand nearby some ovoids? Hahaha this is very interesting. Never panned for gold before but after seeing some of those gold panning videos on youtube...

But I digress. Gorgeous pics guys glad this season was abundant. Looking forward to next month's fall fruiting. Especially with all of this hurricane rain. :frown:
