Hey, so it's my second year hunting I was just wondering if foresty spots are more interesting when it gets cold compared to more tanbarky suburb, or same. Thanks

Not much on the ground at my patch, need some rain, it’s much drier this year compared to this time last year.

Check the above out, bobwastaken has done an amazing job. There's a treasure trove of information in the thread, disregard that it's for SA. Same rules apply.
Happy hunting!

Fantastic early season find wow!

Nickoloxious said: Went for a short bike ride around the inner south eastern suburbs this morning. wasn't expecting to find anything, though to my surprise came across a small sub patch. Didn't think they'd be growing out of the drier more exposed woodchip bed spots so early on. Didn't pick any, was in a very public place in front of many people so I had to be quick with the photo.
Cant wait to check out the hills soon!

Thanks! I'm no beginner but still found this amazingly informative.
My main goal this year is to find some untouched patches. Time to look for dat "bracken fern" haha

Thanks Warrk! Like I said, didn’t expect to find anything. Just went for a look after we had some solid showers for a week. Where I found that & the larger patch I found later that day.
Nothing else fruited for over a week because there was no rain, but now there’s more & the temps are dropping. Those patches are fruiting prolifically. I assume that means they’ll retire earlier in the season. How’s the terrarium going by the way?

Might go for a hunt this weekend just to have a look around.
The terrarium I reckon had all its substrate exhausted after 1 season of fruiting, the subs ate all they could and there was no nutrition left in the tank as I did not top up with more pine bark or anything else. So I've put the tank out in the open and dumped a whole lot of mosses on top and let the rain fill up the tank, I doubt this will revive the subs but at least I should have a nice moss garden again hopefully.

Pins are maturing in E. suburbs, few matures I didn't grab pics of. Huge number of inactives too makes it look promising

been watching the patch in my yard like a hawk for a few weeks, no signs of life yet. but today I found a new one! on the south side of my house, below a hydrangea bush and covered in leaf litter. only a few little ones, but they're there! I'm ridiculously excited.

Welcome to the Shroomey
It's always best to follow the rules and make a separate ID thread in the Mushroom Hunting and Identification forum.
Watch this video about Psilocybe subaeruginosa and their look-alikes. I think the msurhooms in your second photo are Hypholoma fasiculare.
Happy hunting

Big day, Inner southeast Melbourne. Gymnopilus purpuratus.

 Some Suillus Sp.

~ This was one of the first major patches I visited in the morning, well it was... There were some people working across the road so I thought that I'd leave the photo taking for when I passed it on my way back. Sadly the patch looked trashed when I got back, I shit you not there were probably hundreds clustered in those dark spots.
Not the most careful handy work.
Honestly hoping that it was just some old guy from across the road who tore up the patch because he was sick of seeing me lurk like a moth to a lamp, around the cluster of fungus growing across his place. Though I swear I saw a few cyclists staring at those spots like a fine piece of ass. To whoever found it: Congrats, hope you took some nice photos before raping the patch.
 Don't say I didn't warn you, they were growing from mulch that likley has treated wood in it. Chromated copper arsenate is probably not something you want to be fucking with... _________________________________________ sub photo dump;

Just a little dry in some parts, keen for that wetter weather to roll back in.
