There's far more bush land around here than woodchip gardens so I'm learning to work with it. Much more secure than suburbia as well. There's also a pine plantation about 20 minutes away from me, but I can't really get there at the moment with lockdown in place.

On the contrary, I find woodchips a lot more frustrating (admittedly this is my first season). I'm still blaming it on me being inner north and presumably living among plenty of other foragers...

All I've found in local woodchip beds is either nothing, or loads of lookalikes!

Went on a bike ride today in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs. Had no intention of finding anything. Yet managed to make some nice end of season finds. I have a feeling these will be my last finds for the year;

Found a new small patch of Psilocybe tasmaniana. About a kilometre from the other patch I discovered this year;

At first glance I thought they were just subs. But after looking at the gills & a little taste test. I was surprised to realise what they actually were.

Thought that would be all for the day, but right on cue I spotted some Psilocybe subaeruginosa. in a known patch that I believed had already finished for the season, though has decided to push through one last flush;


I look forward to seeing all you awesome folk in next years season thread! :rockon:
