    #3137194 - 09/15/04 02:01 AM (17 years, 2 months ago)

i jsut got back from a pick.  i was working and had to stop cause of all teh rain.  its been pissing on and off for a few days.  anyway i figured may as well go for a walk around the hood.  so i sent the scenic route to the clear cut/forest.  and man did i find tons!!!

here is what i think i found

#1 Oyster Mushrooms  (lots, almost positive its them)
#2 Fly Agaraics (many diff colours is why im unsure, but they sure look liek them!)
#3 Chantrelles...just dont knwo but i think so.  not sure what species.
#4 Psilocybe pelliculosa  i think so, they are still tiny, but im hoping.

aside from fairy rings this will eb my first official hunt and find and id on my own.  so now im double and triple checking.

i got too many pics to even attempt to post here so here is the link with pics and matching descriptions for everything.  spore prints will come hopefully in a couple hours if not, they will be on the website around 7 pm pacific tomarow.

http://www.angelfire.com/bc3/fungus/sept1404.html

thanks for any help   im really hoping.  found lobsters in this area a month ago as well

I hope you don't eat those "pelliculosa" because they look nothing like them.

And those are not Aminitas they are Russulas.

Nice oysters.

Looks like you had a fun time

Hey man , the only "cool" things I have found so far this year are Fairy rings, if I found oysters and Chantrelles at once I would be exstatic

Good Work

hehe oh i was...at first i just didnt care, thought they were jsut those bracket fungi things.  but i figured what the hell i got some pics lef ton the camera, then i got close and shat myself.  the chants were HARD to see.  they were barely veiwable above the moss/log.  if you on the island some time lets go hunting, lots to find here!

thanks all, been eating TONS of oysters, got some drying.  all tolled i have picked maybe 30 punds wet.  that should last me a while.  suprisingly it hardly looked liek a took any...god damn they are plentifull.

Psilocybeingzz:  you been getting the rain?  we have had a good 2-3 dyas of hard rain with lots and lots of wussy rain the rest of the week.  everything it seems is coming up...cept actives

Sure, I would love hunt with ya, but I have been hurting for cash and a job lately, and now I have another interview tomorrow, so I want it to go good, but I wont be able to go picking daily. :frown: , but if I dont have a job soon picking is all I will be able to do   (homeless ) so hey I hope I get it.

I am going to do alot of checking hunting tomorrow after my interview and after I get back to my home town(maple ridge) I am going to hit the forests , and search till my eyes bleed.

(or until dark)

Ya?..nice find on the edibles.
The Chants are abundant this year; you should able to find tons?.it a good idea to dry what you can?t eat as they will last long dried.

You should find many of the Russula?s getting turned into lobster mushrooms?..I?ve found them all over the place.

Don?t forget to take a spore print of the mushrooms you think are Pells, as this is the best ID method. Once you find your first Pells, you?ll find it easy to ID them in the future, but until then you find that every LBM looks like one?.an spore print will give you a positive ID.
