Didn't think they'd be growing out of the drier more exposed woodchip bed spots so early on. Didn't pick any, was in a very public place in front of many people so I had to be quick with the photo.
Cant wait to check out the hills soon!

Oh shit... it’s started

Thanks! Couldn't help but have another look a little later in the afternoon and found these. I had passed them the first time around. Yep its definitely on.

Again not picking any of these. I no longer feel the need to gather anymore after last years banging season. I may pick a few fresh ones to eat when up in the hills but other than that only want to hunt for the photos.

Nice finds! No sub finds for me yet, but a few more alutacea were popping last week.

Hey all! I've been lurking here for a couple of years, trying to educate myself a bit...started hunting for subs last year with no success (although im 99% sure id left it too late in the season) but was fortunate enough for someone to donate 6g dried subs for me to "test" so had my 1st trip last year during a really difficult time in my life, and was very happy with the help they gave me to sort some stuff out mentally!
Anywaaaaaay just thought I'd stop in and say G'day to y'all! I've been doing my research and am sooooo keen to get out and start having a look (Gippsland). I know it's a bit early, but with the cooler weather and rain starting to come in, I think I may have a look up in the hills where its already pretty cool sometime this week!

Hi folks, did anyone notice a difference between sub potency when harvested from pine plantation vs eucalypt forest vs tan bark garden beds vs other habitats last season?
I understand that perceived potency is very much a function of the individuals own physiology and psychology - the question is more for interest's sake

have never noticed a difference gram for gram, although some people contend that smaller mushrooms that have fruited are as potent as larger ones that have fruited, which might explain your perception

Bush subs (pine or whatever) pretty much the same. Suburban, garden bed subs are way more potent. I'd say around the ballpark of around 1.3x to 1.7x stronger. This is just from personal experience. But it makes sense when you think about the difference in substrates.

Nice finds guys! Missed out almost entirely on last year's season but looking from the previous pictures and the forecast April rainfall and temps think we could be in for a beautiful start to the season. Another 3-4wks depending on temps and will upload photo's of first finds and those new out there the type of environment found in to assist all struggling.
Best of luck to all, officially have me un full & complete anticipation!Quote:

Correct, and at least I've experienced closer to 2x-3x potency though did not weigh them so simple approximation

All to glad to hear the generosity of another schmoory member and that you had had positive experience. Safe to say some doses have undoubtedly increased my awareness, openness and empathy/understanding for others and nature itself. While, overcoming personal demons not to be dramatic. It's still very early but even still you can use the next month to scout out area's that look promising, or where there are other species growing which also grow in similar conditions to give you an idea.
Best of luck and if you need a hand don't hesitate to ask me or the many good people here on the forum!

Your photos last year were off the charts Nickoloxious , keen to see what you get this season.
Ents are also equally off the charts 😊

No luck down on the surf coast yet, but I might go for another long walk around some likely looking spots tomorrow and see if anything has emerged.
No movement from the garden bed I spread some spores around either.
