These look awhole lot like the mushies that I find in early summer and late spring in the same spot as the ovoids later in the summer....I always thought mine were caerulipes....the spots in eastern ohio...any thoughts? I don't have any pictures, sorry

So, I've gotta wild spot that I've picked for a couple decades now, I see that you are going to take a few of your ovoids and propagate them....where can I find information on how to start a new spot using the mushrooms from my original spot? Or could you maybe give me some tips? I'd certainly appreciate it friend.

Moving A Wild Grow.........  So, my original spot is along a decent size creek on the floodplain, I've been picking there for over a decade and wanted to try this just as long.....so how to go about it? My secondary and tertiary spots are quite similar, both are along creeks but I don't believe they flood as often....so I should prepare them with chips, but should I bury the chips so they decay before introduction? The original spot is full of box elders, do my chips need to be box elder as well? If not, which species of trees will make acceptable substitutions? Are the chips that I can buy at the local garden center acceptable?

It's super easy to transfer colonized branches around.  If your new area if filled with box elders and you don't feel like hauling chips back to it, just use the box elders as food.  I'm sure you've noticed how those trees tend to have a "cluster" of small branches that grow out of knots in the trunk.  What I like to do is snap off the dry dead branches and lay them parallel over top of and around the colonized stuff.  I lay everything parallel because it resembles a flood debris pile.  The culture will easily jump onto the other small dead sticks you stack around it.  One of the best areas to do this is right under the branches of a fallen tree.  If you can get a decent culture started under a dead fallen tree then as it falls apart and the larger sections find the ground,  they fall right on top of your setup.  You'll find massive amounts for years, until the trunk is finally consumed as well.

As with all woodlovers. The rainfalls made it come back to life, obviously. I think it's still a bit too early for my Cyans to fruit, the temps have not been consistently low enough. That might change next week, we'll see.

Do ovoids normally fruit regularly during the fall in the ohio river valley area and if so what would be a general temp range for them this time of year?

The fall flushes have been on since last Tues here and there have been a few posts on MO from Ohio already. Get out there and good luck!
