The FUCKERS destroyed my outdoor Cyanescens (and Ovoid) beds. :frown: It was a place with tons of woodchip piles from trees taken down, but now they fuckin plowed the area, most of the wood chips are gone, all beds severely damaged. I'll be lucky if I find a few fruits there this fall.

My only hope remains in small forest patches. Oh well.

N05482,  Nice finds!  Those are some chunky looking ovoids. :smile:

Adas,  How long were they established before they were destroyed?  The ovoids are used to such mayhem and even thrive on it.  A flood prolly wouldn't even compare to what they did.  If your patch has been there for a couple years then "they" did nothing but help out.  I understand your frustration though and very much empathize.  We got an asshat in my area that went and pointed out spots, just giving leo areas to look for pickers.  The spots we seed are definitely subject to assholes.  If you ever want some spores, plz pm me and we'll make it happen.

I feel your pain. My best producing spot with forest patches as well as a massive mulch bed directly next to where I park is being turned into a disc golf course. I love disc golf but it's only a matter of time.  Not only will somone potentialy find some and put two and two together but it means picking will be much more difficult to hide. Hell. I may try the metal detector idea! Lol.
Textured, I'm glad you're having a good edibles season. This time of year is always tuff. I have all my favorite large edibles about to fruit But at the same time deer archery just opened. Tuff to keep priorities straight.

TS, I have only introduced the mycelium early this spring. There was decent mycelium already. Ovoids later than Cyans, though. And thanks for the spore offer, right now I have everything I need, my only slight wishes are Azurescens and Pink Oyster prints. But that can wait. :wink:

The people that destroyed the spots are official workers. They want the newly planted trees to have space and there was a lot of invasive trees growing already. Why they removed 95% of the chips in the process?? I have no fucking idea. Last time they did something like this the beds were disturbed but not taken away. People fuck everything up I guess.

Wubble, that sucks! Probably time to start growing them in planter pots :smile: I have 2 such pots prepared, although they didn't colonize yet.


On a completely side note, I have a theory "in makings" - how Cyanescens (and possibly other woodlovers) manipulate animals to create wood chips for them. Stay tuned.

Damn! All the rain that we had all Summer long....now drought when the weather finally starts cooling.The soil is bone dry round my parts....seems like this happened last year too.

Yeah it hasn't r-worded in two weeks. Before that we had r-word every day for a month.

The lions mane do well in dry weather, tho. I've found ten pounds in the part two weeks.

I'm sad about the lack of ovoid inducing weather. The spring season this year was better than it has ever been in the 4 years I've lived in this location. I don't know if I'll ever see a good fall flush in this area. Spring and Fall are almost indistinguishable from Summer and Winter here. Anyone else noticing this in their area?

What  kind of trees do you usually find lions mane growing on? I've seen it on maple before but none so far this year.

va hunter, You're very welcome!:mushroom2:  Now that you've been successful at finding them in the wild, you'll be able to use your new skills to find them other places.  And thank you for reminding me that I need to start some cultures a lil ways up some hills, away from flood action.  I'm hoping this will keep certain spots secured, no matter what gets shifted around.  If I can find a decent sized colonized branch, I'm gonna relocate to a safe zone and pile some yummy box elder around it.

So would that be possible, to take a branch with ovoids onit and relocate it somewhere else? I have a couple,very similar, spots that I've been fantasizing about starting new wild grows there. If I prepared the spot with chips? IS IT POSSIBLE?

Hey friend, I've been fantasizing about starting a new wild grow along a very much similar creek using decaying box elder branches from another location.....if I prepared it like your wild spot, with chips and watered down the area well, is it possible?

Moving A Wild Grow.........  So, my original spot is along a decent size creek on the floodplain, I've been picking there for over a decade and wanted to try this just as long.....so how to go about it? My secondary and tertiary spots are quite similar, both are along creeks but I don't believe they flood as often....so I should prepare them with chips, but should I bury the chips so they decay before introduction? The original spot is full of box elders, do my chips need to be box elder as well? If not, which species of trees will make acceptable substitutions? Are the chips that I can buy at the local garden center acceptable?

Here's a couple pics from my late summer wild picking....usta think I had cyanescens but once joining this site I was quickly corrected several times and told these are ovoids.The spot is on a floodplain next to a creek not a half mile from the Ohio river.

Now I am dedicated to the idea of propagating these at a couple similar locations? I've been told it's possible but how? Any ideas about where I should look for info on cultivation from a wild grow onto a new locale?
