I agree...  WAY too paranoid (like me :grin:).
I've actually been hunting for years.  Not the best at it, but pretty darn persistant (better at growing them).  I even got to know Psylocybe Fanaticus a little.  And, yes, I'm talking about good 'ol Billy.  The dude that created the PF Tek.  Anyways...  I was soooo paranoid, especially after Billy got busted that I never bothered to post on here until last year.

Anyway, stupid story.  The point is, 'old dudes' like the one that was just described are usually pretty cool.  I know Billy was.

anyways, man people suck when you're mushroom huntin. One guy started harassing me the other day while I was checkin one of my spots -- just kept asking me what I was doing there and being nosey and wouldn't get the fuck outta my business .. Then just earlier today I was on my bike and put it down for like 30 seconds to check a spot, and some kid tried to jack my bike. I cursed him out and threatened to call the cops.

But dogs are worse ..they bark and attract attention to what ur doing and if there's any people around them they immediately look your way -_-;

Haha, that's too bad. I walk through parks with a ton of people and dogs and I'm walking through areas that nobody walks and they all stare but no one gives a shit. I even pick some as they're walking by, people just don't really seem to care as long as you aren't bothering them (in my experience).

Yeah that one guy in particular was a dick. It's near some apartments and he asked what business I had there...I told him that I was there to see my friend but he wasn't home. Then he was all like "so what's your friend's name?" So not thinking or wanting to talk to him I was just like "Bill" and he was all like "I don't think there's a Bill that lives here." so after an awkard moment of silence I just said "yeah, you're prolly right" and rode off. The guy was staring at me the whole time I left.

About a week later I was passing by there again (on my way elsewhere) and the same frickin guy was standing outside and man he was staring me down the entire time I passed the place. Pissed me off so bad...

Startin to worry whether he knew what I was doin or not, and if so if he's gonna screw it up for me when this season actually gets kickin here ..

-- Then there's a small field not far from where I live which grows inedibles, but it's next to a neighbor's house, she has dogs and is always out there reading. So I can never check it to see if anything new's happened without making it completely obvious that I'm lookin for mushrooms (granted inedible ones.)

My luck needs to change for the better soon :frown:

I tell people that I study Mycology.

I tell them I am picking and studying mushrooms and fungi.

I tell them I am looking for edible table mushrooms. Start saying shit like Marasmius oreades, Boletus edulis and Stropharia rugguso annulata and people will leave you alone.

Fuck them. It's your hobby and you should stand up for it. It is not illegal to hunt mushrooms until you are trespassing or in possession of Psilocybes.

Huh, that sucks.

When people ask me, I usually tell them what I'm doing (depending on what they look like) and I'd say about 90% of the time they laugh/look at me funny/or tell me about some good spots to check.

The other 10% of the time, I get a lecture but have never had anyone say anything like 'I'm gonna call the cops!' it's usually more like 'thats bad for you!' :wink:

so how's the moisture looking over there on the west side? is it going to be a booming year? I was thinking about heading over mid november because that's usually when I have the best luck (last year seemed a little late,) but is there enough activity right now to justify a trip over?  By the way, there is a Barter Faire in Tonasket this weekend, a lot of goodies going on there.
