If anything, this thread is clogged with way too much weather talk and complaints about the season starting slow etc. These irrelevant, uninformed and off topic posts clearly outnumber the pics so far  :2cents:

Agreed, checked this thread for the first time in a few days and there were 52 new posts. Love the enthusiasm, but weather related questions don't belong in this thread. If it has rained in the last 1-10 days and the temperature permits, there will likely be shroooms around to pick.

Any parks with mulch, tan bark and tree litter. Locations aren’t allowed to be given out and won’t help you in any way regardless because they grow all over Melbourne. Just keep looking and you’ll find them eventually. Good luck

Re: Finally found my first [Re: K00sh]

My approach:
- Search a likely looking area (as K00sh described)
- If there's many non-active indicator species around, do a thorough search
- If there's no fungi activity at all, move on to another park/reserve
- If there's lots of evidence of pillaging, move on, unless it's a big area
- As soon as you find a single active, search obsessively everywhere around
- Once you get a feel for the micro-habitat, find places like that are maybe a bit hidden or away from foot/bike traffic at least

Works for me. I'll spend many hours out at a time, around multiple suburbs, but have found them in probably around a dozen locations already so far this season.

Also, sometimes I find them in spots that I've already gazed over several times, so I find it helps to deliberately put attention into slowing my visual tracking down, being more mindful in the process. Sometimes they just seem to 'pop' out of the visual field then.

So I went back to my spot where I found mushrooms along a road and more had grown  back, then I went to a pine forest again to have another look and still didnt find anything. Is there something I'm not doing right or is the pine forest I'm in just not going to yield anything? There are hundreds of non actives and lots of amanita, ive spent like 10+ hours and haven't found a single sub.

Yer sure does...

This year I've found plenty of subs and only a very small amount of inactives (or edibles for that matter). Usually it's the complete other way around... Such a surprise....

I had 17 grams a few nights ago... O wow they taste bad LOL. My advice on how eat the sacrament is as follows:
have a big glass of water ready
half chew the sacrament
down them with a mouthful of water
and repeat til they're all gone.
Smoking some of the sticky stuff will help with the nausea...

Whatever you do, resist the urge to puke or the sacrament will go to waste...

O and before I forget, I advise getting a black cotton eye mask from eBay... They're the best....

I think in 5 - 7 days subs will be in great abundance due to the weather of late... Cold, overcast and damp... Just how they like it...

It's for the trip. I find it helps for journeying into the mind... shuts off distractions...

It's true, gazing into a fire is awesome. I don't have that privilege at the moment though...

It's personal preference I suppose. I think it's definitely worth having the eye mask just in case it become desired.

Tonight’s haul, nothing huge but my season has properly started now. Hopefully I beat whoever beat me to lots of my patches after the next flush.

Put them down and thousands of little worms and mites fall out of the gills. Always a bit gross but I’m sure most people experience this.

Chodey, I recommend reading Bobwastaken’s Psilocybe Subaeruginosa/Alutacea - SA Hunters Guide (  https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22172072 ). Great insight and good to have on hand when you’re having no luck. I still use it as a reference and have been picking for many years.

Another Pine forest another big bag of nothing;

I’m starting to give up! I’ve spend around in total 10 hours searching all over for nothing!

It’s almost as if the spots I know of everyone else does now to and the spots I think may have potential Magic’s are just wrong haha ehhh 😒 that’s it!, I’m moving to Melbourne!

Finds from yesterday. Here's the the thing though, i ate them all, weighed at 55g fresh and i didnt trip, stayed up for 5hrs waiting for it to take effect, nothing. Thought it was digestion so maybe thinking about doing tome lemon tek for next batch. Doubt it would not have been potent enough to feel anything. Anyone got some ideas as to why i didnt trip? On no meds

Those aren’t active, they are blue Stropharia. Eat some active mushrooms to trip.

Because what you have eaten looks nothing like a sub or a psychoactive species here in Aus, why did you eat them may I ask they have no bluing whatsoever....

Cortinarius rotundisporus

Edit: do not eat any more of these! Cortinarius contains many poisonous species - the edibility of these are unknown. Did you suffer any ill affects? The blue that you see is not bruising, it is just the colour that the mushroom is. You should have had these correctly identified before you consumed them, please do not do that again. It might be a good idea to go on to this Facebook group and tell them that you consumed this mushroom.

Thanks Doc. nicemushybois, please check out my edit on my last post and go to that Facebook group. That one is for poisons help and emergencies whereas this website is just for casual IDs. I don't mean to be alarmist, but it would be better to be safe than sorry.

nicemushybois, please follow the advice Duggstar recommends, Cortinarius are toxic and may have you experiencing adverse health effects. Even if you feel fine now, better safe than sorry.
