How awkward is it bumping into fellow hunters... always clambering as hard as the next bloke the get a half decent excuse out.

One bloke today was asking me questions about the track.... lol all I could say was “I dunno mate I jumped the fence up there.”

Shroomery should make a badge and flog it for a dollar each, at least you would know the other bloke is legit.

Anyone in the western suburbs that can point me in the right direction/want to go for a look? Have a car but not much free time atm so want to be wise with how I use it. Had a bit of a poke around my local areas but haven't found much

Went to check on one of my local spots and finally found some magic :mushdance:

There’s quite a bit there but I didn’t hang around long as it was a public area, I picked a handful and left within a few minutes. Not sure what I’ll do with my harvest, might grow on cardboard as I still have heaps of dried subs from last season and I’m not really into tripping these days just enjoy the hunt and being out and about.

Great day out today - my best this season - 270g around NE suburbs

Finding at least a couple in most places I look now - car parks, golf courses, train stations, let alone the standard parks/reserves. Bumping into heaps of other hunters too. Met a cute girl today :smirk: why oh why didn't I ask her number :confused:

From memory, the top one, no, the middle one, yes - had some bark on it I think, the bottom one, yes, had some buttercups around it which I clipped with my fingernails.

3rd time out in 5 days and pulled another bag full of P. Subs. Not a single outing has left me with less then probably 100. Loving this season! Sadly my pine location seems to be outed, haven't found one in there yet but no ones turning around to look on the other side of the road haha. In total this season found 263g Dry :laugh: Looks like it's gonna end a good season. Also, what's up with the what I thought were babies having dropped their spores already? Left heaps of babies to do their thing but noticed in every patch of subs maybe 2-3 babies had dropped their spores and started dying? Just shit timing? Haven't seen this before.

All 5 tiers of dehydrator is also full xD.

Man, I have no issues just yelling out "Any luck?" and pointing them toward some possible gold mines for goldies. Had a car load of new comers at my area yesterday hunting, they hadn't found any so told them a spot with hundreds that I couldn't of been bothered hiking too. They then decided to drive their ford focus up the 4WD track to get there. Like if I could get to it without hiking 10kms through thick scrub, nettles, leeches and stuff why would I explain how to walk there and not drive -.- Felt kind of bad for them, but I did say you had to hike through massive hills :/.

What pisses me off is when you're picking and someone decides to come over, like I get it's not my property, but wouldn't general courtesy be to leave each hunter a fair wack of space when possible? Was down the otways on the weekend and 3 4WD's all pulled up, each with 3-4 people and just spanned out and walked straight through where we were. It's sad because some blokes are good, like met a nice bloke on Saturday who wasn't having much luck so told him to join us and he left with about 20, could've had more but was all he wanted.

All that being said, you ask me if I'm having any luck and regardless of whether i've got 10 or 1000 my answer is going to be "not really, found a couple but nothing amazing" until I feel ya out.

Man a fair few of those shrooms look really young, remember when picking to make sure the spores have dropped and that you're leaving a couple at each spot to do it's thing. If I can't look under a baby cap to check it's spores then It stays, if they don't get to drop spores and everyone takes them that size, patches dry out :frown:

Yeah, and please take a small pair of scissors or a razorblade to sever the stem from the mycelium.

Ripping the fruiting body from the plant more often than not will inhibit further flushes, ruining not only others' opportunity to eat the fruit of the gods, but also your own in having a sustainable patch.

Doesn't take much to harvest consciously.

This too, didn't even notice that he had ripped all the mycelium up, use a knife or scissors man. Even a blunt knife pushed between your fingers and the stem does the trick. But if it's a regular thing, It's nice to have a reasonable quality knife to take. I use a $30 winchester one from Anaconda, can cut hard to reach places easier too.

By disturbing the mycelium you're essentially killing any chance of that area fruiting for a lengthy time. You're better off cutting it and who knows, two weeks from then there could be another 2 shrooms growing there that you otherwise would've ripped. I have lost count of how many spots I've cut a shroom, gone back a week or 2 later and there is another one right there. Although not frequently, it isn't uncommon for subs to grow multiple fruits from a tiny patch of mycelium covered bark.

I remember reading in the thread somewhere, that if you took a spray bottle filled with spores and sprayed it all over the place, it would take years for it to develop into mycelium and start growing (if the spot is ideal for them to grow in the first place). I thought that seeming as though it only takes several weeks when your home growing it would be somewhat the same, is it true that it would take years?

Eastern suburbs VIC, only took photos of this little one, left it to grow.
There were about 4 more pins and 3 big ones to the left, pinched the big ones up.
