Do you guys save the stem butts and use them to inoculate other substrate?

Can you put them on cardboard like other woodlovers?

Absolutely. It's possible that fairy ring resulted from stem butts I threw down in that mulch two years ago. It's also possible it happened by itself.

This spot I'm 99% sure was started with stem butts buried there right after a tree was mulched in place.

Things are dry but there are still nice finds to be had. Bittersweet discovery of a massive fairy ring cluster that isn't gonna make it. Still managed to get some great fruits. Boomer the Great should be posting pics of the fairy ring later .

:shocked2:  What a find!!  Mulch cultures put out some crazy tight clusters.

Do any of you find Psilocybe caerulipes while looking for ovoids, or is it more likely that while hunting, most people are unknowingly picking both? Seems they share a similar range and I think this is the one that ovoids got confused for in the past.

Ovoids in spring, Caerulipes in fall my man!

Caerulipes are far more rare though...

OK, I didn't catch that when Google them. Also, I have read about Ovoids being found in fall on occasion. Do you think that's right, or a miss ID of the Caerulipes?

that is correct, fall ovoids are very rare but they do have fall fruitings occasionally...I'm sure guys like Koods know of ome regurlarly producing fall spots but I wouldnt think thats common.

Caerupiles are late summer. Fall ovoids are pretty late - end of October through November.

Well I'm along side a creek that runs into a river. Found well basically a build up of thigs, branches and leaves, composted underneath. Full of very rhizo growth. Problem is no mushrooms so I don't have a clue what it is. Guess I will have to come back in a week.

Also just found a morel, light cap one.

Extraordinary day today. Saw the biggest flush ever. Dozens of clusters with a hundred fruits each. Some were growing inside these burlap sacks and you had to cut it open to get to them. It was epic. We spent an hour getting things without moving, just completely surrounded. The best part is this new spot is a 10 minute walk from my house.

Today was totally epic!!! :awesomenod:  Definitely feeling the amount of walking we put in.  Oh, and still got that nettle working on the roof of my mouth.  A cold drink just made things worse.  Moral of story ... don't put raw, uncrushed, nettle in your mouth lol.  Noticed a tick crawling up my arm on the car ride home too, so be on the lookout.

APRIL SHOWERS MY ASS!!

Was hoping 4 some overnight showers but according 2 their current path... it would appear they dissipate once they hit the mountains BUT are heading right towards Koods & his gang.

Kood's was called the Ovoid whisperer... with the rains heading his way, i'm wondering if he's got a "RAIN-DANCE" or his favor among the Shroom Gods is grand?  Either way Koods, your LUCK is on a role!
