It's been super chilly here in NJ the past couple of days, and windy. Made my job at the golf course kind of hell to work at but hey.

I am setting my next adventure for next weekend. I'm liking the look of the temps and it seems like plenty of time for some things to finally happen in NJ/PA

Ovoids are a pain. I've cleaned up cyan/azure spores printed on old dirty maps left in my backpack for a year and a half. I haven't been able to get a swab of ovoids to germ on agar. I put them in a syringe and left for 3 days to hydrate and find a mate. Rolled around on a plate and it solved all my problems.

Things are poppin. Dozen areas with small fruits and pins. Gonna be bonkers by next weekend. The wine caps are crazy right now and a good indicator - half of the little ovoids I noticed while picking wine caps.

Haven't heard anything from satanicshroomer yet.  I wonder what's up with him.  Hopefully he didn't get busted or anything.  He was one of the regulars on the old threads.

My man made patch from sawdust clones is just starting to fruit. I had fed it a generous amount of mulch/cased with straw in November after it fruited for the first time. About 2 weeks ago I re-mulched it and they are really starting to pop.

I have some I ground up in a coffee grinder that are from two seasons ago (spring 2015).  I keep the container in the freezer.  This morning I took maybe .5 tsp worth and added some lemon juice before I went out hunting a new  area. I was surprised at how strong it was.  Got a body load, but mainly in the head and my eyes felt like there was a film over them and pressure behind them.  Sort of cloudy/hazy vision.  This was all in the morning starting around 7:30.  I can honestly say I am still feeling the effects, like a lightheadedness of sorts.

I think these guys a very potent but it's been many years since I've eaten any except for a small cap or a bit of the ovoid powder.  With a wife who thinks they are just a drug, I haven't really had an opportunity to weigh out and make a real session out of them.  Most of what I collect is gifted out.  I keep a bit every year with the thought that I have them for when an opportunity does come up.

Thanks man, a little more rain with, hopefully, less wind and I think it'll be on. I pulled nearly a pound from this spot last year so I'm more then ready. We should get together this week and hit up a spot or two.

Try just lining the bottom of a dish with grain and shoot onto that.  Once it germinates, move one piece of grain to agar to clean it up.  That's what people have been suggesting in cult.

I don't know if it's just too early here in the Philadelphia (and NJ suburbs) area, but not only have I not found ovoids, but I have only seen one single psathyrella after hunting for 3 hours on 3 different days.

I'm going to wait for the next round of rain and then I'm going to take an hour drive down to the tri-state borders (DE/PA/MD) to hit some spots which I've scouted and seem to be perfect habitat.

I'm determined to find them this year. I can't let all these hours of research and hunting go to waste.
