I see, but it's very rare.
As you all know know of, I'm sure, the "Which psilocybin mushrooms grow wild in my area?" page. Is there somewhere that has a more regional list or map for my area. Because Georgia is the biggest land mass state east of the Mississippi River with suburban rain forests, mountains, grasslands, etc, etc.....
The entire state of Georgia is listed in "Likely cubensis range", but it in fact doesn't grow in my town

That as well is within my knowledge. I'm at the epicenter of weilii. But I don't want to be limited to this very elusive mushroom. Gyms are elusive às well. Ovoids seem plausible. Apparently I should have an abundance of active pans literally in my backyard, (horse farm), but where I'm at has extremely variable temperatures. Like this morning it was 39 degrees at sunrise, but will reach 81 degrees later today. This is normal in my neck of the woods. So while there is a wide variety to choose from, timing is key. I live between the Appalachian and Blue Ridge mountain ranges.

Well this is my neighbor

Wood chip farm.
But this stuff is stirred up daily.

What stevo said! Yesterday I had stopped looking to answer a text from the wife and light a cigarette and happened to notice a little a little cap out of the corner of my vision when I was reaching for my phone. Kinda odd. Last year searched everyday for 2 months vigilantly to no avail. Then accidentally find my first one on my second trip out this year while not looking. Then all of a sudden they were everywhere

Ovoids go bananas for woodchips.  Check the perimeter where the chips don't get disturbed as much.

Well I am heading off to hit 4 or 5 spots I scouted on Google Maps. I have recruited my sister and her boyfriend as extra eyes.

Wish me luck.

So, Ive been looking at the observation map for Ovoids and most of them make perfect sense to me. Many are obviously off the Ohio River and its tributaries. Then some are off of a few other main river watersheds. Then, there are some findings that just make No sense to me. Such as the ones in Georgia and even Rhode Island. I am curious to get thoughts on how these may have gotten there as I am fairly new to this species. Is the belief that these were just random findings? Perhaps spread by people? My understanding was these generally spread through these major Rivers. Almost all the documented findings I see seem to be near 5 or maybe 6 major rivers or their tributaries. Does that seem accurate?? I'd love to get you guys' opinion on this!

Mycelium can't colonize tributaries from a river. It works the other way around. They like areas that flood occasionally. Doesn't really mater if it's a river or a drainage ditch, if the habitat is right with lots of wood debris they will grow. Personally, I find rivers to be a less suitable habitat because they flood too often. A nice creek that you can cross by hopping rocks is best, IMO.

Had some activity in my go to spot.  Came away with 5.  Saw some pins that I left.  All that I found were small.  It's still pretty dry even considering the rain we had recently.

Still early..Looking forward to some more rain.
