The mulch piles are now blowing up. Three out of five that could have them do, I suspect all will soon. The ovoids are everywhere, pull back anything in the surrounding area and you find them.

The slugs are starting though. I could see that being an issue in the coming week or two.

I have a situation at one of my spots that I wonder if anyone has any experience with or thoughts on.

The spot is in a really deep like, dry run washout going down to a big creek. There was some construction nearby that caused the whole run to be inundated with mud, like several inches of mud covered everything down there, all the best spots, etc. The whole patch was barren last year, not a single fruit that I saw.

I'm assuming that the myc is still alive under all that stuff, and when a sufficient amount of mud is washed away it will fruit like crazy with all the new wood it would be theoretically colonizing over the past year that got washed down with the mud.

Has anyone had an experience like that? Anyone have an opinion on whether it will fruit again?

What I've seen when productive areas get buried is that they no longer fruit there...at least in the near future. I have found some in the periphery of the new sand/ mud but not where there was more than an inch or two on it.

Flooding devastated my spots from 2012 and they are just now starting to come back...but, still not as prolific as they once were.

Its those, or another species in that genus, cause they also have that slight purple hue around edge of cap.

We got to spread the genetics around the woods. If I am lucky enough to find some, I am helping mother nature out and spreading around the same general woods to start new patches, OR if the fucking spores germ......  What is the chance someone would hook a brother up with a print of a find from this year?

Got home from night shift at 3, back up to hunt by 9-noon before I had to come back in and BLAM park ranger as soon as I pulled into my spot. RIP Me.. at that point we were looking at each other, so I had to get out in order to not look sketchball supreme.. acted like I was picking the thousandth dryad saddle I've seen this season.
Did find a bunch, but no picking!

Had to share this spore printed shroomy tho

Great finds everyone!   I don't know whats going on out here. I cant find shit! I miss being down by the James. Literally every place I looked down there last year I found some, but up here I am finding perfect spots but no Ovoids. I've only put in maybe 20 hours or so around here, but It's not looking good. Maybe they just don't grow here. I cant find any confirmed finds, Although, they are basically found within 60  miles in every direction around here.  I'm not very encouraged. Going to have to take a road trip I suppose!

Finally found a little stash and the biggest morels I've ever found.  I wish I had more time today the caps were nice and white you can spot them a mile away when they're like that.

Man I was excited when I walked up on those morels.  I rarely ever find them looking for ovoids.  Old dude told me one time that you will find more numbers on the hillsides but smaller size and less numbers along the creeks but when you do find them in creek bottoms they are big like that.

The reason why there not as plentiful on the hills is... when they used 2 hunt Morels - they collected them in plastic bread bags & or similar & the spores weren't/couldn't release.

One of them was bad.  It had already done its thing I should have left it but I'm not a morel expert.  But when I got it home I cut it in half and there were ants all up inside of it, bunch of them.  I think they are good for the mushroom.  They crawl around and get spores all over them and spread them around.  It's probably the same with slugs and ovoids.

The morel I found a few days back has the same issue. It was full of ants. That one was a nice size, almost as big as the ones posted and it too came from a creek bottom.
