Walking on water
    #815407 - 08/13/02 04:42 PM (15 years, 4 months ago)

As Jesus stated that this was merely a matter of faith, why has no Christian ever been able to do this in 2000 years?

Perhaps it is impossible (like all of the ancient "miracles") and was just another parable.

Perhaps. Perhaps not.

Yeah I think it may have been a parable.

But I was not alive with Jesus (at least not in my memory) so I can't say for sure.

I think Jesus was just walking on a sand bar.

jesus walking on water was a misinterpretation. the red sea is so salty that if one were to go in it you would become boyant.

If anyone could do it at that time, then why did it make an impact?

Who knows? Maybe it would be easier to find out if you were alive then. Or remember being alive then, if thats what you believe.

Yeah, and also the red sea is some pretty nasty water. And it probably has some sea snakes and stuff like that.

why has no Christian ever been able to do this in 2000 years?

So Jesus couldn't walk on water but you can live for thousands of years AND be everywhere at once?

I always thought it was because they had fear not faith. At least not that kind of total faith. That kind of faith is impossible these days IMO. To much conditioning of childred to see the world as rational adults do. To actualy believe, not just think but believe without a doubt, as if it had always been so.Like in The Matrix in the jump sequence, everyoner falls the first time. Impossible to let go of theat conditioning. But if you truly could, who is to say what might be possible. Not me.

Regardless of the level of faith or fear or whatever you want to call it...............there is a huge difference between Christ doing it and some other christian doing it as you asked. Christ did many things back then that have yet to be repeated by anyone and never will be duplicated.......he's christ.

This is utter nonsence and you know it. Hell, I can even walk on water if I wanted to. In fact, a lake I used to live by back in the day froze up on me every winter and I always walked on it then. So don't you go claiming that it can't be done...water comes in many forms you know.

I don't think lakes freeze so close to the equator. I could be wrong on this... I mean, the laws of physics/chemistry might have been different back then. If the pressure was low enough... it could freeze. But then you'd be in a vacuum and you wouldn't be able to breathe. So maybe Jesus wore a spacesuit and then just lowered the pressure directly around him (let's say a 10ft sphere)... then it could work. Does it say anything in the Bible about pressurized spacesuits?

May I offer the suggestion that Jesus walking on water is a mythological event that never happened? Any takers?
