Hey Rock!
I’m in Gippsland. I collected spores over five years ago and sprayed them in my garden. The mycelium is everywhere. I also wonder if the spores travel out my shed window when I’m using the dehydrator. Either way I’m getting a lot at home but none where I would usually expect them. I’ll try and get a camera and take some good photos.

Nice to see some good finds happening guys, keep it up :congrats:

And I like the pro-active approach to spawning your own patches, this needs to happen more IMHO :thumbup:
Spore bombing, mycelium relocation and growing out stem butts on cardboard are all great ways to spread the love and ensure you get a harvest

I went pine smurfing on Saturday, found a few nice patches in early fruit.


One almost too mature sombrero


And one phenotype I found interesting which has very large fat stems:


The harvet


An earthstar, albeit a little beat up


And a Clavaria (possible a Ramaria, I forget the macroscopic distinctions so I can never tell them apart in situ)


All the above specimens were found at 800m ASL on the south side of a hill amongst bracken and grass in a pine plantation, NE Vic.

Hey dudes,
Sick finds. I’m having lunch at work right next to the pine plantation I first started picking at. It’s bloody cold and damp. I just washed all the spores off the tin foil into a bucket and poured it under my mulch. I’ve also had better success by taking the bag I first put the mushrooms into (paper ones I knock off from woolies when you buy mushrooms) and simply burying it under the wood chips. I’m not entirely sure how long it takes but I’ generally get mushrooms the following season. I put one next to my water meter last year because it leaks a little... noticed a few popping up there yesterday haha.

Sorta new to hunting shrooms. Would anyone mind telling me how much altitude affects growing/hunting? Currently sitting at 23m ASL

I'm new too and I'm wondering the same thing about the impact of altitude. From everyone's finds mentioning the altitude it seems like the season kicks off in the higher altitudes and then makes its way to the lower altitudes? I'm on the lower end of the altitude scale around 40m ASL and I'm keen to start hunting for my first season.

What do you reckon the odds of finding anything on your first hunt are? Granted that you can reliably identify your mushrooms, and just say you are hunting in a nature reserve...
