Up to you. A lot of people wouldn't worry about it unless the mushrooms copped a spray after fruiting. Personally I'd just find new spots, preferably in the bush. :smile:

Had another peep today. I want to make sure I don't understate my amazement at this species fruiting right now. Not only are there no other actives around - there are no other mushrooms of ANY kind around. I saw one other mushroom today, a Mycena under some ferns in a creek. Anyway, the Psilocybe alutacea are still few and far between. There was only one pile with mature fruit on it:



I put it full res so you can see the bruising. I'll check back in a couple of weeks.

Hey man welcome to the wide open mulch Land of SE Vic been out that way a lot over the last couple yrs and one thing I can say you gotta be quick . There picked before you even get out of bed. So if huntings your thing rather than viewing the after attack of the mush night Ninjas!!!!! I can recommend a off the track hike up in the Dandenong Rangers do your research as there are many many lookalikes and LBM’s a plenty definitely take a camera there’s so many cool Moss moments dude trust me!! It’s bloody f n beautiful sitting on a huge log in peaceful Moss world and cracking a cold one🌈good luck PS take care if picking in parks around the suburbs as the stupid council employ Nuffnuts to drench the weeds and sourounding mulch as they have no clue or care to the ecosystem impact. Nasty stuff keep away if you see dye markings from spraying (red or blue mostly) but good chance night Ninjas have cleared the lot anyway!!!!!!once you start your game will improve find your own little spots and return each season you’ll smash it bro 🧩🧘🏿‍♂️🍄🍄🐕💨

Nice one ent! Good to see this thread though I was hoping I'd be the one to kick it off in 2019 haha. I've been off the forums for 5 months so lots to catch up on, been growing other things in the meanwhile.

With my fish tank tek, I had a peek tonight and noticed mushrooms growing UNDER the moss cover... gonna take a proper look tomorrow in daylight but I doubt they're subs....

Yeah I always wanted to kick the thread off myself, but that lot over in Gippsland always took the glory on account of their subs coming up nice and early over there, but since I have been finding Psilocybe alutacea, I've finally had the honour these last two years. :biggrin:

There was a find of a possible Psilocybe papuana, definitely a Psilocybe in (I think) December last year. So when it comes to exotic species, somebody could potentially start the thread on Jan 1. :bigjoint:

Visited a mate up in the hills yesterday and had a little hunt on the shady side of one of his sheep paddocks. Turned up a solitary Psilocybe semilanceata, but a lib no less.



The sticky cap is such a good identifier for this species, if you're looking.

That's so true about the sticky cap. The thick gelatinous pellicle on P.semilanceata and P.tasmaniana makes them stick to stainless steel like glue.

Good to see both P.alutacea and P.semilanceata featuring in the Victoria 2019 season already. Best of luck for a multitude of psilocybe species this season.

I'm a little bit uneducated on the Psilocybe semilanceata. Are they fairly psychoactive?

Search on Google. They're a very common mushroom in the northern hemisphere, so lots of info about their effect. They're potent by weight, but small and light, so to trip you need a lot of specimens when compared to say, subs.

Very psychoactive and quick to take effect. Different to subs. Feels more like being stoned for the first twenty minutes after eating them. Then blastoff into a magical very euphoric high. They were my favourite. Still would be if I could find them again.

I found the lack of paranoia when tripping on them compared to wood and shit growers made them very special.
Sorry for butting in again but I felt it needed mentioning. If you come across any P.tasmaniana they arent as strong. Dont last as long but do have that euphoric high like liberty caps.

In the UK libs grow from grass pastures where there are horse, cows or sheep. I believe they grow from the dead grass roots, but presence of animals seems to be important. They pop up as it cools down, beginning of autumn, through to the first frost (UK).
