Oh man, I remember when you guys put that up.

I pick cyans and ovoids at the parks I ran around as a kid.  I also eat those cyans and play on the swings and teeter totters.  Just as fun as I remember, except when my fat ass breaks the swing chain

That was hilarious. I took macmerdin there to help pick and there was a picnic. We got tired of waiting and just said "fuck it"

Here's the pic to prove it.

Fun times.....

I can still hear them in my head

"Si-lo-see-bin?"  Lol

Thats the playground I went to when I was a kid

Thats awesome!
so what are the chances of finding them in mulch like that? Less than on the stream banks? Because theres so much mulch around me that i could spend days just driving around peeking at big mulch beds.

Theres a lot of streams that branch off the Ohio Valley River along rt 65, so its raining today, ill go out tommorow to scout out some potential habitats.

ive had a friend that found some in this area.

Pretty good chance. At least around here the mulch is made from storm debris. Also the pile they use to collect the mulch is infested with ovoid myc so pretty much every time they spread it around there's a good chance they're making a new spot.

Curious.... [Re: stevo]
    #24235713 -

I've seen some mushrooms both this past summer, and now today, in Central MD that looked suspiciously like ovoids. However, I read a harrowing story in Sierra Magazine about a woman who became violently ill and almost needed a liver transplant after eating mushrooms she thought were ok, picked in the wild. So i am scared to actually pick them in most cases, and instead just take pictures of them.

Today I was so compelled to pick a couple I saw growing near a mulch path. I have been voraciously reading the ovoid threads here on Shroomery and scrutinizing images of these magnificent mushrooms online. Now, I am seriously thinking that I found ovoids today. The ones in the patch I saw had the tell-tale nippley top, and as you can see from the pictures, same weird gradient of browns on the cap. The one thing throwing me off is that the caps are not moist on the ones I picked, which I've read usually indicates a psilocybin.

I may be totally off here, and am in fact awaiting the spore print. Maybe some of you could tell me right off the bat if I'm wrong.

Appreciating the habitat photos.
Not much greenery in the few spots I've surveyed.
Not as barren as psyche dels desert shots though!
Dubs is that habitat photo a current one?

An area I checked recently was flush with Entoloma (credit ghostydocs ID)

Do these share a habitat similar to ovoids?

Not a current habitat photo. From May 8, 2016

Unfortunately, this is what I've been running into.:mad2:....good ole celandine.....pretty to look at but completely carpets the ground.

Spent all morning up to my ankles in it.  Still nothing going on, a week out at best.

I would rather look through 3 feet tall forests of stinging nettles then ever bother with those plants again.

I haven't seen any black pinned ovoids yet. These definitely have that bottle cap appearance but I assumed that because they are the first ones out and conditions aren't optimal.
