Another thing is the wispy remains of the veil around the margin on this one gives it away. Thanks donjohnson420!  I know how to spot these damned psathyrella now. Learn something everyday Lol fuck.

Those do look like the Ovoids in your sig because the ovoids in your sig look like psathyrella... but I think the color gives them away. Ovoids arn't red orangey.

They can be deceiving for sure.  Could also be where I haven't seen an ovoid for a year too haha. And thats the only pic I have of the corncob ovoids.  The stem looked way whiter in that pic than what they really were, shitty camera. I hope to find some more cobvoids again this year.  I also found a few that were fruiting off old buried walnuts last year.

That mushroom doesn't look right, but the bruising looks right. I'm confused. It's looks like an agrocybe with blue bruising

Definitely not an ovoid..but could be worth sending to someone to analyze if in fact it is bruising blue.

When in doubt, use your sense of smell...your nose knows. Ovoids have that dubious odor...I love so much. lol

Love the nettle, makes a tasty tea and very healthy. You eat them like a salad?

I eat them cooked up with stuff.  Not quite willing to eat in salad.  The only time I eat raw is while hiking around. The key is to sacrifice a couple fingers in order to roll the leaves (fresh tops) on itself and work out the sting.

Jaybob.. Check the print if it's bluing.  I have observed ovoids with that type of appearance on many occasions. I think it happens when the caps dry out too much when they stall.  When they get moisture again, the cap splits while trying to continue to maturity. They're like little ovoid flowers.

You guys put raw nettle in your mouths while the chems are still active??

You're a better man than me....I do love it steamed and sauteed with a little olive oil or butter though....heat kills the toxin that makes you itch.

My understanding is that there is a chemical on the fine fibers that causes the irritation. This chem is rendered inactive by heat.

It's the hairs underneath...if you fold the leaf in half and rub together you can eat it raw.

I don't know.  I think JayBob might have an ovoid.  It's just not fresh and looks like a it's sunbleached.  I've found them like that.

The stem looks right. It came up with the myc root ball (for lack of a better term).  Gills look right.  Has the nipple on cap.  It's bruising.  Found in VA I assume and appropriate habitat..again assumed.

In VA we've had really weird weather over the past month.  Very warm temps for March but not slot of precipitation.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was just an early friut that's dried out.

I'm certainly no TI and koods has probably forgotten more about ovoids than I know, but I'm on the side it's an ovoid.

With the rain we are supposed to get tomorrow I'm going to do my best to get out over the weekend and see what's popping up.
