Sure, in a world where lies are spread everywhere it can be difficult. So I agree with that if this was all you were attempting to say.

I will also add that due to the difficulty in ones attempt to understand objective reality, it is essential that one has a rational philosophy and rely on 'reason' alone to come to ones conclusions. That way the concepts that we choose to integrate will be to the highest degree of accuracy.

We can of course make mistakes of knowledge, but that is OK, we are fallible human beings after all.

I presume you're referring to the Objectivist axioms?  Would you mind repeating them for clarity, as I can't find where you explicitly stated them in the course of this thread.

And I didn't make that clear in several if not all of my posts.

you can't be certain of anything...

i can't figure how all this circular logic can be relevant to the [BIGFUCKINGLETTERS]/DISCUSSION/ of psychology or sociology... so i guess there is NO place to do it on this board, no one wants to actually discuss anything or get a fucking point. sorry, not mad... just ARGUING A SILLY POINT, which is apparently the only aim here.

omgzeiez ban me (not really, or whatever just from this forum please, i won't care, i shouldn't be participating in these "talks" anyways)
you're all mocking birds. please, get me away from this shithole, mods.

and the idea is relevant to the person... unless you;re certain we're all one or something. back at this hypocritical conjuncture.

i will
don't worry
you can all banter on and on
i have nothing against this particular thread, just this forum is confusing and i told no one off, but did say that you're all chasing your tails in a debate forum. nothing has ever been concluded yet so what makes anyone here think that they can, personally, here?

i seriously doubt it with the rules set in place... is this a debate forum? or one for relevant discussion of things other then ufos?

oh and i seemingly have not enough intellectual clout to post here so, it's fair enough that i find another place to post where i can actually be helped. doesn't sound fair to me, but whatever, i am just not intelligent enough to come up with some reason why it is fair, what i say or ask. unless i trap my mind in a box. whippie!

oh an i didn't even break any rules in this thread that wern't already broken(if even at all). so felt free to give my posts and ask some VERY simple questions. rational ego, do you debate here to debate or for another reason. if you wer here to debate for no reason... good luck, person. this sillyness is for you guys only... not for me...

ha, personalism... WE ARENT EVEN IN PERSON. i hope you at a least... realize the difference. because as smart as anyone can be... as on point as anyone can be... no conclusions can be made in a consensus of all the persons in a debate. that is why there should be a specific forum. or just at least make it clear that this forum is for those who have no point in posting a question, thread topic, or answer other then to stroke their own intellect... post modern... this is post modern.. get used to it. we are reverting back to the days of yore... satisfied? seriously, i would laugh at everyone here personally, but no instead i can only try an ask simple fucking questions without (usually) going on a big rant about my intellectual BELIEVES and i get called out... the standard of flawlessness IS ambiguous here. because if i rave and girate i can get what i want as long as i'm just talking to yelping at myself like a goon.

LOL L of fucking L

maybe when i get banned they'll erase all this...  anyone who wants to use this forum for anything but themselves... turn around!!1 walk away!!1 the big boys are her debating ENDLESSSLY with no conclusion to a topic EVER! Aahahhah

oh well, i guess i'll be stick in the spokes... at least i can say what actually did. even if it was all in typing. (jeez, you'd think i'm wasting my time trying to convince people to stop coming here but it really seems like you're all wasting more time then even I... but that's just from my perspective. i guess simple questions really are too much for this forum... big long arguments... yeeah... that's where it needs to go)

rationalego... go cry to mama
"i want everyone to agree with me too!@!@" :hissyfit:
peace, and with that "personalism" i'm out

I can't say I've read this entire thread, but in my opinion this is the most important contribution.

Until we figure out all of the brains secrets, and find solutions for the smallest neurological deficiencies, we never can quite be sure our individual brains are are functioning properly; after all the brain is the organ that interprets our model of the universe.

The brain has more synapses than there are stars in the milky way galaxy, but it's still evolving, rapidly so.

Our brains experience of self-awareness, spacial reasoning, sensory perceptions, and the universe itself (which is infinity more complex than the individual brains we posses) will only continue to take major leaps in evolution; and then subsequently discovery/understanding, at an ever increasing pace. Our view of the Universes cosmos and our minds cosmos will change in unimaginable ways; a more drastic change in perception than a humans grip on the "truths" of the universe compared to the most intelligent chimps, and then it will only continue to change and improve more so.

Why was Socrates the wisest?

Well, I want to come back to this.

I only agree with your sentiments in regard to subjects. Physics, history, politics, etc, it can be hard to gain facts about 'what is going on' in these areas and it requires effort and study of the 'facts' to come to solid conclusions.

But facts of reality in the context of what we ought to do is not such a difficult concept as most philosophies would lead you to believe.

There is no Is/Ought dichotomy at all. The Is gives rise to the Ought. What is a fact, for example, if you were stranded on a desert island, leads one to conclusions about what one OUGHT to do, given that ones life is ones standard of value and that one wishes to pursue happiness and pleasure in ones life. In this context it is a fact that if one is to stay alive one ought to find food, shelter, etc., and if one wants other values of living in society, one ought to find a way home. The facts of reality dictate what we ought to do to accomplish personal happiness.

That is not to say that we cannot make a mistake of knowledge, for example, eating a poison berry and dying as a result would defeat ones objective.

I might start another thread solely on the Is Ought dichotomy actually. This whole post probably should have been in a new thread.

My point is Ice, if you find yourself on a desert Island (or in any situation), you don't sit around and think 'perhaps none of this exists and I am really in a mental hospital' while you starve to death. You look at the facts of reality and work with your situation to achieve your goals towards personal happiness.

In essence, contemplating the arbitrary, the improbable, or the irrational is pointless and a complete waste of time and therefore life.

Not only does it logically follow, but I know this from personal experience!

Like I said we have no disagreement here and never have. I like to ask existential questions for fun (and the fact that it might come in useful in dealing with certain fears of death or something) but when it comes down to day to day that shit doesn't exist for me.
