Not very far. I live ~5km east of CBD, and I bike around everywhere in like a 10-15km radius, and finding tonnes of them. My reliable spots from previous years have mostly become known and pillaged, so I've been exploring a lot more, looking for shady/damp areas where others mightn't think to look. Also helps to start early, and perhaps mid-week when the competition is less fierce :laugh: You're guaranteed to find more if ya keep at it

Hey guys,

I'll be moving near Mt Gambier for the next few months and were wondering what forests I should check out nearby for any decent spots. I've had a lot of luck in SA but haven't delved into any vic forests yet.

I was thinking about areas near glenelg national park, but anywhere between Mt Gambier and Portland seems to be full of forest and I have no idea where to start

I personally like hunting when it's raining. Makes them easier to smell and less people out and about.

Anyone noticed their spots from last year not producing ? It’s strange all 5 of my spots from last year are completely void of all fungal activity, not even leratiomyces ceres..

Im slowly building a stash from random park finds but I’m having to venture into the forests to get any decent patches, I’m wondering if the lack of rain these last few months affected the mycelium?

Successful mission today found my first P. Subs and a stack of saffron milk caps too.











Thanks for the info posted on here and painkiller for some tips.
I also read this which was very helpful in finding the location / microclimate.

Hey guys, just had my first forage today and found some stuff in Melbourne's south east. I've grouped them up into two bunches as the one in the first image had brown gills and flatter caps whereas the one in the second image had white-ish gills and round caps. I think they're both subs as they both had blue bruising on the stem? But not sure, help would be appreciated.

They're all psilocybin mushrooms.


Today I went on what'll likely be my final hunt for the season. Spend a few hours hunting in the same area as the past couple days and found plenty of subs. I'll post some photos from today soonish... for now I'll post this photo which is likely my favourite from today...



I love subs shaped like an umbrella....

Loving the photos guys!

I went on a couple of hunts this week, and maybe found a total of 80 fruits. It isn't anything spectacular I guess, but for my first year hunting I'm pretty happy.

Here's some of the better photos I took:

I did stumble on a bit of a monster sub that was close to 25cm tall, but I rushed taking photos of it and they were all out of focus.

Going to be in town next week, just wondering if snakes are an issue in the Bay water area?
Hoping to hunt for a good hand full of goodness.
I saw a post of funnel webs but no mention of snakes👀
