Ok guys, I've held back as long as I could posting this.  I thought I could find subs on my own without any help.

This is my third season looking, and this year I have been out every weekend in various places across Melbourne, from dandenongs to the ottways.  Nothing but inactive and lookalikes.  My partner is fed up with my stubbornness (never had shrooms) and it's taking its toll.

I am heading out yet again today and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't have any luck finding them, and are happy to try growing them, there are plenty of people who would send you some spore prints. Hit me up if you need some, but otherwise best of luck, no shame in asking for help, I know I probably never would be finding them like I have been if not for the help of the good people on this thread.

You don't need to travel around so much to find subs. I bet if you walked around your suburb for a few hours you'll find em. No need to drive and waste money on fuel, subs are literally everywhere. What suburb are you in?

Hey guys,
Although I've had good success this season (I've found maybe 50 grams dried over maybe 8 hours of hunting), I've sort of run out of options with inner city hunting as my absolute best patch in Richmond that I rely on has been dug up by in the past week :/ and the other inner city patches that I use have been extremely inconsistent with Subs at least. This has brought me to post here, I'm super keen to get out east of Melbourne for picking but I've no license. My mates do go but have chosen unfortunate days and nights for me this season. I'm not sure if this is the place to post about this, but I'd be willing to pay gas if anyone whose heading out of Melbourne is willing to carpool w/me.

Is the richmond one the one near MGC? I used to get great patches a few years ago but everyone's all over it now.

Some photos from yesterday's hunt... very new hunter, so very excited to share these. Included a couple of pictures of what looks like Amanita muscaria... didn't pick it, found one already appearing to have been broken, perhaps a fellow hunter nearby... :wink:

There's definitely still heaps in the inner suburbs! Took a ride from Richmond down towards Ashburton way and found several patches along the way, including one goldmine area right near a bike path that looks completely untouched, can't believe nobody seems to have been there yet! A stretch of about 300-400 metres where I was finding a clump of a few every few metres, craziness. Left several hundred pins there still :smile: Nabbed 270g all up today, and had to stop picking 'cause container was full.

Finally found a couple today I think.
I've had success growing them myself years ago, so might have to give it another go.

North Melbourne.  I know it was a bit excessive driving to all those areas, but I sorta wanted to check it out regardless.  Vic Forrest's are pretty magical.

Take the train. Heaps of areas and patches accessible by train, if you're astute you might even find subs AT train stations. You don't even need to go into forests and bush. Try supermarket parking lots with woodchip beds, corner stores, petrol stations, nature strips, walking trails and cycling tracks etc.

Just wanted to say I found about 200g fresh/wet subs in East Gippsland at my usual area on Saturday and I got my mate tripping for the first time which was awesome and despite some medication in my system I also tripped balls after taking 40g fresh.

So East Gippslanders it's all happening, if you didn't know.

Some of the specimens in the above photos are so healthy and large. The subs I find are quite skinny and small-capped, but they are plently potent. There must be better soil out there or something in Melbourne parks and suburbs, probably all the fertilizer etc.

One of my go-to spots from a few years ago was down that way but noticed when I was there over Summer there was a lot of council work going on.
