Hahaha ‘spots’ nah mate not asking where to look  hahaha just typical growing locations, ect ect bit more information that what I’ve read on here, I’ve only ever gotten into this by myself, no one has ever showed me where to go, what to look for ect everything I know (not much) is 100% from this site haha!

Congrats to all my fellow first time sub hunters scoring! I found my first aussie magics today and it has made my week! Thank you to fellow hunter mr earring friend who gave me some tips! As soon as we departed, I found a patch. No great photos, but here we go.

Wow, I think I might have actually found some? Bottom right (others picked up from curiosity and gonna try to ID myself for fun):

Walked the dogs in my local wetlands where I know shitloads of shrooms grow, but no subs spots that I've found. Noticed some in red woodchips on the street right near home.

Got them waiting to check spores, is my ghetto paper with permanent marker going to show up properly? Guess we'll find out. I did lay all the caps properly flat after the pic.

Uhh, what's the best way to actually pick them? Scissoers/knife?

I'm really keen to go bush with someone who has a car....

I'm not finding that many mushrooms around Melbourne now because others have picked them. I went for a stroll through the spot in Frankston many people know about and only found six subs. This one being my favourite:



Definitely need to go bush to find very large amounts. These mushrooms are becoming so popular.........................

No bingo.

Compared to your mushrooms, subs are
- heavier
- have firmer caps and stems when bent
- have a slight rubbery feel
- may show blue here and there
- have a purple-brown spore print.

You can find subs in the dampest, shadiest areas with the right terrain (woodchips, pine needles or eucalyptus debris).

In the future be sure to make a separate thread in the Mushroom Hunting and Identification forum to have your mushrooms identified.
