The spot should fruit again once there is more water. But, you might have already contaminated it or prevented spores from adequately spreading. Do you only pick mature mushrooms and use gloves / scissors when harvesting them? Spots shouldn't dry up due to lack of water this early in the season. It is more likely that you've interfered with their reproductive cycle in one way or another.

Whether or not the spot fruits again next year is another question. There are numerous reasons spots stop producing shrooms, other than mycelium becoming contaminated.

If you're picking from tanbark, there is an ideal level of decomposition. Councils often dump fresh bark on top of old bark. This will most likely ruin your spot for at least a year, probably two. But, there's also the other end of the spectrum when the bark becomes too old. Your spot will probably continue to produce some mushrooms at this point, but it won't produce the same amount... Also councils often plant stuff in areas with tanbark beds. This will also alter the yield of any particular spot by changing various environmental factors. As the surrounding plants grow, they will consume more water and increase the level of shading.

I wouldn't rely on one spot, if I were you. I've spent a lot of time returning to the same spot (in the past) only to be frequently disappointed / frustrated that there's nothing there.

You've also got to take into account that other people might have found your spot and picked everything including the pins... or contaminated the mike.

You should at least have one back up spot, IMO.
