Shit stevo, I don't need to hear that about copperheads!

I'm already walking around in the woods like an old man crossing the street looking for coins because of the pics koods terrified us with earlier.

I've seen lots of snakes, the only copperhead I've seen had an arrow through it and was propped on my shared fence more than 15 years ago.

I prefer to ignore any comments contrary to my own record

Ignorance is bliss; and Lyme disease doesn't exist because I don't own a microscope

It's worked so far

Hey guys, any idea why ants fuckin LOVE to destroy the logs I put mycelium under (cyanescens)? Like literally, most logs I've tried to inoculate have been partly "chipped apart" by ants. The mycelium must be attracting them heavily somehow?

Though if the spot is sufficiently wet, the ants tend to stay away. I must be more careful next time. Any other recommendations?

I've seen a bunch of spots with ants as well.  Don't even notice them until I step in an area and they start to appear under where I've stepped.  It seems like they are able to easily make tunnels within the soft, colonized, wood.  Not sure if anywhere on the ground is safe from such things.

I also want to say thank you to the couple of peeps I was able to meet along the way this year.  I'm not that much of a social person, so I thank you for the wonderful trips out and for making this year really enjoyable (you know who you are).  Such a wonderful thing to spend a day hiking with good ppl.  :mushroom2:

Here's the one small grouping I found yesterday.

hit me up next year if you want to share a hike around that early spot down my way.  i'm not much of a social person either but you've been good to the ovoids and shroomerites alike; you're good people, TexturedSounds.  thanks for all the juicy pics, tips, and consideration.

I'm trying to naturalize woodlovers in this area. The only real problem is lack of rainfalls. Central Europe = desert. I'm still hoping though, P. serbica grows in some places, other woodlovers should too.

I think only time will show. People here have no freakin idea how to mulch, everyone thinks they mulch, but in fact it's like 1 or 2 layers of bark/chips... There's no way any mycelium could survive such conditions. That's one of the reasons why I put my bet on healthy forests. Only time will tell though. I'm expecting to see SOME cyans this autumn, but not a whole lot.

With the amount of rain we're getting the growth is slow. But hope dies last, right? I want to naturalize them sooo bad. And if nothing else works, I'll dig a deep hole and fill it with chips and mycelium and cover with some soil and sticks. That should retain moisture better.

Hell yeah, I'm down for getting together next spring.  It's only like 9 1/2 months away at this point.

Thanks for all your tips on getting projects going.  You make it look so simple.  It truly gave me the motivation to try some more things out.

Only found a small handful today.  It's pretty much over with.  They might come up again if it cools down and rains for a week.  I did find the first and only cob-void today. 3 years in a row I've found them on cobs in that spot.  I bet they would make a good supplement for a cultivated patch.

Cobs would probably make good starter material.  I'm surprised how long the cobs have lasted in that spot.  6 year old cobs.  Mulch, cobs and straw for starts and by then it should colonize bigger hardwood chunks for sustainability.  I have some nice chunks of about 1 inch diameter beech and oak in the mulch bed I started.  Its alive.  Spotty mycelium growth all over from stem butts and a few caps buried.

Just checking in - found a few on Thursday but I pretty much thought it was over since pic 1 was the only straggler at a reliable spot but lots busting out elsewhere tonight including wine caps and imposters but I think I see some bluing along with the slug in pic 2. Enjoy...
