Done what you said funkmaster89 & found a spot across from a friend of mines this evening.  I didn't find any Ovoids but I did find a Morel.  The area before the bridge (sorry 4 the poor quality in the pics)

My hopes was that my season hadn't started yet.  Finding that Morel tells me it has.  I ran out of time to check the area past the bridge.  It used to be an area to put in on the river but due do mud-boggers & trash being left, the area is now fenced off.  I hunted it last year but had no luck.

Man I want to see these little guys growing in the wild. I may have to take me a trip east if I ever want to see them. Going to try to go out this weekend for a few hours. Man I hate Illinois, corrupt ass politicians, fucked budget, high taxes and no known psilocybe species.

Pluteus salicinus
edit-No Psilocybe species yet.
Lynchburg VA those are some good looking fruits.

Yeah,  that's IL! I used to live in Franklin Park,  Schaumburg, and then out in Harvard by Woodstock. I was very happy when I moved to FL!

Is anybody else noticing that the wind is keeping the rain from really soaking in? Got out for a bit yesterday and with all this rain I figured everything would be nice a soaked. Everything exposed is but under leaf litter, logs, etc is still bone dry. Other then some galerina and pluteus didn't see anything. Going to go back out tomorrow and check another patch of mine and scour a few new ones.

Don't get discouraged because the season isn't kicking yet.  They could be in there just not fruiting right now.  There's a lot of ovoids in my spot they don't fruit til later tho.  I would keep looking around that spot especially where those 2 little channels that flow into the river. I'm not an ovoid pro I just got lucky having access to the spot I'm in.  Another thing to watch for is a flat field along the creek that gets flooded.  If they grow crops even better.  But find a field that has a wood line that runs perpendicular to the creek.  Check the wood line next to the field.  That's how my spot is.  They come up in masses right on the edge and thin out as you go farther into the woods.  I'll get a pic next time I'm down there to give a better idea as to what I'm talking about.

I feel like Ovoids should be growing here, lots of great habitat along the rivers/creeks in this state. Lots of good wooded areas. I will be looking but I know odds are against me.

Well we have had some rain the last few days. Next 7 day forecast shows 60's-70's in day and 40's-50's at night. Best part is I have 5 of those 7 days off from work. I got to get my ass out there looking.

I would think anything plant or fungi that is growing this early in the year, would naturally be able to take a light freeze.

If I remember right didn't something like this happen last season. Lots of worry that it would mess up or stop fruits and it didn't faze them.
