No I don't need to. I really really want to. I so dislike your implication that your fucked up war monger god would send people to hell because they won't give up their will and be his slaves that it makes me want to puke my guts out.

So deal with it or better yet take your fucked up jesus post to otd.

the whole 'jesus died for our sins'... is the worst part of christianity.

Christians, tell me this:

how did christ's death save humans from their sins?

ive been told.. that.. he died for us.. SO THAT ...? god would forgive our sins? pff, jesus IS god, and god is ultimately good and benign in the first place. He knows everything, when he inseminated mary, he knew that jesus was going to be the child and that jesus would ultimately let himself be killed by the roman soldiers.

Let me get this straight.. God has this rule that if someone gives themself in to the roman army (which did not even want to kill him... pilate saw no reason to kill jesus.. i think pilate actually liked jesus a hell of a lot...compared to what he thought of others) then it makes up for every other person's sin..

but only if that person asks for forgiveness

why doesnt god care when mortal beings let themselves be killed? what if they claim that it is 'for human's sins'?

Would jesus have never grown old if he was not killed?

I think that would have saved the world SO MUCH MORE than him dying,,, why does christianity, which has such wise teachings, have to be so passionately convicted to the mind-numbingly dumb bits?

Really?  I can think of much worse.

Christ chose to bear the burden of all the world's sins.  Upon that cross all sins were crucified with him.

How did he chose to 'bear the burden' of all the worlds sins? how can that make sense to you? to anybody? It is presupposing an option that he was given
or suggesting that he, unlike other people, had the option of bearing the burden of all the world's sins.

now think about this: if jesus is the only person able to bear the burden of the world's sins.. wouldnt that make him the worlds biggest asshole if he chose NOT to?

Are we praising him for sparing us the biggest cunt-off ever?

as for it being the worst part of christianity, ,
I had a reply but now im interested in what youre talking about. caus if it is the actions of christians, or the political stances of modern christians, then thats not really talking about christianity as a teaching, so what are some of the bad aspects of christianity that you think are worse than tying it all to the notion of jesus dying for our sins?

Christ chose to bear the burden of all the world's sins.

And how pray tell do you know this? Did he tell you that himself? I mean in the flesh?
Or did you read it in a book and choose to believe it because you wanted to believe it?

Be honest because santa will know if you're lying.

Yo, but I believe Jesus was living proof of the potential of man. We werent ment to worship him, we were ment to follow in his footsteps. He gave us guidence to become what he was.

I agree with this, 'potential of man' is the right way to look at it.  It's not about worshiping the idol, it's about understanding his teachings in the present moment.  "He who drinks from my mouth will become as I am and I will become he and the hidden things will be revealed to him.”  Everything else besides Christ's spoken word is an interpretation, nothing more nothing less.  Jesus showed the people in his life what to do, and his word tells the rest of us what we are capable of doing.

The great deceiver is the mind.  The mind leads people to believe in myths, like taking everything in the bible (or any religious work, for that matter) literally.  You are not being judged by anyone or anything except for your own mind.  God does not talk to you, your own mind talks to you.  The closed-mind that accepts a myth as truth is a force against the truth, causing the blind to lead the blind (has been happening since Christ's death).  Jesus was the truth and the life personified.  He wanted us to follow his footsteps, not worship him.

Sure his death has significance; it showed what a spiritual being can do.  All he had to do was take back what he said, and he would have been removed from the cross.  That's all his enemies really wanted.  Everyone was expecting him to do this, or some big miracle, but the truth is, the biggest miracle of all happened.  He died on the cross without taking back what he said.  He endured the suffering to demonstrate that he was/is the way.  He died on the cross so we wouldn't have to do the same; we just have to follow his example and his spoken word.

For those of you who don't do this already:  Think for yourself instead of just accepting what some book says, or what someone else says.  Use your ability to reason, to think critically, and to think for yourself.  You were not given these abilities so that you could accept a dying myth and pass it on to your children.  If it doesn't make sense, it's probably not true.

You are the son of man when you wake up to the truth and the life, when you wake up to what Jesus was really trying to say.  You are the son of man when you give birth to yourself by putting the mind behind the spirit.

"Try to realize it's all within yourself, no-one else can make you change."

I don't.  I'm merely explaining the symbolic meaning of the crucifixion.  You can choose to believe it or not.  Doesn't matter to me.  I don't even care if it's literally true or not.  That's the symbolic meaning of it, and that's good enough for me.

This post is a reply to Jethro Tull.  I don't know why it says OrgoneConclusion.  These are Jethro Tull's patronizing quotes to which I am reponding: :foreheadslap:

Quote:

Even "Christ's words" are an interpretation. The gospels were written many, many years after Jesus' life, by people who heard somebody who heard somebody...you get the point.  Just because it is written in your Bible in red doesn't mean that somebody directly quoted Jesus.  Did you know that?  Why do I get the feeling that you read my post and you think you know something profound that you need to tell me? I was not asking for anyone's advice.

Quote:

How do you know what Jesus wanted?  What religion are you?  Most people refer to John 14:6 as Jesus' testimony to the exact opposite of what you say.  It reads, Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."  Does this verse not show that the author of the book of John (and no, it was not actually John) meant for people to believe that Jesus actually did insist that he was divine, and that salvation can only be attained through worship of Jesus?

Is any of this not purely speculation?  Not only is it totally illogical, it contradicts what you just said.  So, you think that Jesus was not divine.  You think he did not want us to worship him but follow in his footsteps, but he had some superhuman power to remove himself from the cross to which he was nailed?  Amazing.

Fair enough.  Your post doesn't make sense.  I conclude that it is not true.

Don't tell me how to think.  Hell, I can't even tell from your nonsense here whether you are a christian or an atheist.  Please explain yourself.  I don't know what the hell you were trying to explain to me, but you seem to think you have it all figured out.

That's fine.  Sorry for proselytizing; I just went on a bit of a rant.

I don't read the bible.  I'd rather study the book in a historical context.  Yes I did know that; I used to play telephone when I was a kid just like everyone else.  I wasn't really responding to you; I was agreeing with Hubbub, and then I went on a rant.  I'm sorry if you felt that I was giving you advice.

I don't know if Jesus ever even existed.  I don't classify myself into a single religion, but more of a general spirituality.

Huh?  Yeah, it's speculation and interpretation, because I used words.  I don't know what divine means.  Superhuman power?  What are you talking about?  I don't believe in miracles or magic just like I don't believe in Santa or a judging God that looks like a man in the sky.  Jesus was a man (if he existed), and his teachings are with us eternally in spirit for us to interpret in the present.

Seriously, what kind of fucked up Creator would give humans free will, only to punish them eternally for their choices if they don't get it right the one and only chance they have?
