For an evolutionary trait to become common, those with that trait have to be reproducing. So if homosexuality were to become more common, that would mean that homosexuals were reproducing somehow.

start adding more and more gay people who dont contribute to reproduction over time...this reduces the reproduction rate
increasing the possibility of extinction

for every 10 gay people who are 'added' to the population there are about 90 straight people 'added'

I really think there's no need to worry about gays being the downfall of society

i don't think homosexuality has any genetic origins. if it did, it probably would have taken itself out of the system long ago.

What is logical about getting cancer?
What is logical about getting Alzheimer's?
What is logical about getting gay?

None of them are logical.  All of these conditions are strongly influenced by your genetic makeup, with your environmental experiences tossed in you get said condition or state.

Ain't no way to continue your genes onward.  But, then again, if you have the genes that predispose you to disease that thwarts procreation, then, well, your DNA ain't worth it.

Funny, tho, how these non-logical conditions of existence persist.  Too many people fucking too early 'fore they know what's best for humanity.  :smirk:

Then why haven't any of the lethal genetic "diseases" taken themselves out of the system long ago?

Modern humans have all but halted their genetic evolution in the "survival of the fittest" sense. We keep our sick alive, now, where once they would have died. That tends to keep specific genetics in the gene pool longer, I think.

Maybe it's about time to give up on your bigotry.

And trendal is right, there are lots of reasons genetic conditions can be passed on. For one, everyone carries a lot of recessive genes... that don't actually take effect on you, but you might pass onto your offspring. Plus, lots of gay people have gotten married and had kids in the past, and now that the technology is available, gay people are having kids with sperm donation, or having a friend give birth to the child.

I semi-agree with Paw, i dont beleive they will be the downfall of society. But I do not agree with being gay, however I know its not their fault, I view it as say a genetic defect. There is nothing wrong with it but its not normal or logical. There is no way someone can say being gay is natural, men were not meant to have sex with men, and women were not meant to have sex with women.

gays dont bother me and I dont mind them at all (but its adam and eve not adam and steve)

Good. I don't agree with being blonde, or being left-handed, or having an English accent, or being taller than 6'3".

If there is nothing wrong with it then it is not a genetic defect. An abnormality maybe, but the term "defect" implies something debilitating.

but its not normal or logical.

FYI, ingesting psychedelic mushrooms is not "normal" for most Americans. As far as logic goes, saying homosexuality is not logical is about the same as saying that liking the color red is not logical. It's a matter of taste, not logic.

Homosexuals occurs, and has occurred for all of human history(as well as in the animal kingdom). Therefore homosexuality is natural.

Quote:
men were not meant to have sex with men, and women were not meant to have sex with women.

Meant by whom? You may not mean for a man to have sex with a man or a woman to have sex with a woman, but it occurs nonetheless, and therefore someone meant for it to happen. If you're going to use the anatomy excuse, don't bother, as men and women are both equipped to be able to sexually pleasure members of their own sex. If you use the reproduction argument, you insinuate that any non-reproductive sexual activity such as oral sex or sex with a condom or masturbation is equally wrong or "unnatural," as is celibacy, abstinence, or any other attempt to stifle or delay reproduction.

Do you recall the story of Cain and Abel, the two sons of Adam and Eve? Cain killed his brother Abel, and God banished him from Eden and sent him to the land of Nod to start his own kingdom. How could he start a kingdom if it was just him? There must've been more people around. I figure the land of Nod must be where all the "Steves" were.

There is nothing wrong with it but its not normal or logical.

Neither are marshmallows. Or blowjobs. Or jelly beans, or LSD, or pretty much anything good humans have made.

So I don't see any reason to think it's bad at all. I don't see why the things humans and quite a few animals do wouldn't be "natural". It may not result in reproduction, but it's as natural as anything.
