time for me to chip in. i didnt read much of this thread.

1. this worlds problems have to do with violence, greed, hatred, intolerance, divisevness. THis worlds problems have to do with people hurting, robbing and killing others to further there own personal goals and desires.

This worlds problems do not have to do with consenting adults engaging in acts of physical love.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with gay sex or gay relationships, as long as they are healthy, loving relationships.

Every person has the right to follow there own path in life...

ah, what am i saying? i never understood any logical argument against homosexuality , so i dont even know what to refute. to me its just obvious that the worlds problems lie in people hating each other, not loving each other...

anyways, what the hell. im totally bisexual. its a new development or realization for me, but so far im liking it. Last night was the first time ive put it on the line and fooled around with some guys at a rave. it was fantastic. It felt right. It made me feel good about myself...

thats all the reason i need to follow my feelings...

judge as you will...

personally i think the greatest crime here is the fact that many of my closest friends will probably abandon me when i cant keep this part of myself hidden from them, even though we go back years, rather than my bisexuality itself...

by the way, this is just totally ridiculous:

"a species must procreate to continue living, therefore if we were all gay we would die as a species
if the purpose of a species is to continue its existence as a species
if the purpose of life is creating life
then i conclude being gay is illogical"

the human population is EXPLODING. one of the hugest catastrophes facing humanity and the earth itself is the human population surge... what people need to do is stop breeding, about 50% of them. thus i conclude that being gay is far more beneficial to the earths future than being a breeding straight...

ok last thing...

id ask anyone who thinks being gay or engaging in homosexual acts is wrong to read the following and respond.

Im at a party, theres music playing , im dancing. I start to get really sweaty, i take off my shirt and keep dancing. im on E. i feel really friendly and happy and open. later i meet a cool guy. he introduces himself, im dancing around, later i sit down and chill out with some friends. guy comes back and offers to give me a massage. Im like, ok dude for sure. so he does the whole full body deep tissue thing, hes got some kind of funky oil and everything. it feels absolutely phenomenol. then hes kissing my neck and my ear. it feels even more fantastic. Im starting to really feel like i like this guy. so later i run into him again and give him a kiss. like, a kiss.

so , this is homosexual activity. two guys making each other feel physically good.

now, maybe that really grosses you out. thats fine. but what i want to know is at what point did that become evil or unethical? who is the victim? what is the crime?

with other 'crimes against society' i have no problem understanding. a man rapes a woman. the crime occurs as soon as the man uses force to violate that womans free will and causes her physical harm. a man murders another man for crack money. the crime occurs when that man intrudes on the other mans right to life and happiness. a thief breaks into your house and steals your tv. the crime occurs when your right to property, peace of mind and privacy is violated...

in all of these and other cases i can see waht is 'wrong' ... one person harms and violates another.

but if a guy kisses me, and i like it... whats the crime?

your only looking at the state as it is at present
is that the only way it ever was?
to have an objective view you have to think on a larger scale
think about the first cavemen and humans, whose children were the future of the species
you wouldnt be here if they all decided to be gay
so why is that ridiculous?

how is looking specifically at the cavemen rather than specifically at us, modern humans in 2005, the 'larger scale'?

if they died and didnt reproduce
there is no modern humans
no larger scale to look at

that's true

but do you use a hammer that is so old and worn out it hardly works? no. you set aside things that no longer work, or are no longer relevant.

are you saying homosexuality is Bad because if it had existed at a certain point Humans would not exist? (and always assuming Humans continuing to exist is Good, of course)

it was logical

Yeah, but if say, a minority of cavemen were gay, while the rest were all straight (just like today!), there would still be people... and that's probably what it was like.

ok to clarify, i think were discussing the implications of homosexuality in modern society, not in cavemen. furthermore, were discussing homosexuality as it is, a minority of about 10%, not as it could be in some science fiction world where everyone was gay.

Yeah, arguing that if everyone in the world were gay it would be a problem is ridiculous. If everyone in the world were a carpenter there would be tons of problems, but I don't see anyone complaining that carpentry is the downfall of society.

Well in terms of damaging society, something that completely ended reproduction would be bad.

Thankfully there's no reason to think homosexuality would ever do that.

im just saying if you think of human evolution as a whole
start adding more and more gay people who dont contribute to reproduction over time
not just gay men of course.. gay women also
one straight guy could always knock up a bunch of chicks
so this reduces the reproduction rate
increasing the possibility of extinction

I contend that if a species ever went "all gay" it would be for a specific genetic reason: essentially that species would have reached an endpoint in evolution and thus enter self-destruct mode

I cannot see evolution ever reaching such a state, however. Homosexuality is a good way to remove oneself from the gene-pool...so if homosexuality has any genetica causes they should be quietly working their way out of existence even at this very moment.

trendal, yes, i already gave a genetic theory on the first page.
also a population doesn't have to go all gay to die off
just not be able to replenish as fast as they die
