Enough with the logic threads!
    #616995 - 04/24/02 03:43 AM (14 years, 7 months ago)

Can we get back to chatting about the various entities you meet on shrooms rather than whether logic says they exist or not? It's getting a bit tiresome to be honest!

i feel the exact opposite way

we should have a forum titled, "aliens and unexplainable phenomenon" and then actually talk about spirituality and philosophy here

You have a good point, and I agree but in the other hand people denying every thing should form another one, this forum is for spirituality and philosophy, If you believe you have a spirit or soul is already something that can not be proven by science, so I think this forum should be on the middle term.

its absurd to think that one cant use rational, logical, scientific deduction and remain a spiritual creature.
i believe that one does not even necessarily need faith to be spiritual

and one surely does not need faith in the unseen to be philosophical

just because it cannot be proven by science does not mean that it is not there, HOWEVER that doesnt mean that one should disregard science altogether

my main thing is, i come into this forum, and alot of the time, the majority of the posts have absolutely nothing to do with spirituality or philosophy

this has become a ufo sightings forum, which isnt a bad thing,
i just think that another forum- "unexplained phenomenon" is definitely in order

Again I am with you 100 %, I don't believe in being polarized to either side, I believe that anyone that could state that the universe is this way or that way is a fool, as a puny monkey that I am I am thankful that I could only witness some parts of it.
My two cents.

I agree with you Lallafa.

One can experience and acknowledge unexplained phenomena and spirituality and use the tools of rational thought in an attempt to integrate them with or modify his paradigm of the universe. Logic, rationality and even the scientific method all fall under the umbrella of philosophy. They are tools we use which help us to make sense of things. When we abandon them we do ourselves a disservice.

Don't get me wrong, i don't mind it once in a while, i just don't want every thread i open to be full of specious bullshit like "If X = Y, then clearly...."

Take it to a logic maths board.

Logic is a good virtue... but it goes too far when these people are coming in every thread and bashing others spiritual opinions and telling them how they are false. Spirituality cannot be defined by logic, logic can be useful in obtaining a more objective reality, but when logic is used as the means for debunking everything someone says regarding their beliefs and spirituality, it crosses the line. Lets find a logical way to apply logic in this forum.

fools, you say there is no such thing as law, i'll explain. You think this way because you know that most of the physicists are wrong, for they operate on cause and effect in the third demension only. I know that levitation is possible, that would infact break the law that humans can't fly, ha, that is not a law, it is only a belief supperimposed as a piece of the paradigm which is our society. However, if i gave you the information to build an extraterrestrial space ship you would only be able to navigate the universe along the gridlines, because that is a law of this third demensional universe. thats why those alien ships move all funny and shit, because they come from i higher demension, the only way the can navigate through this demension is to obey its laws, if there were no fundamental laws here at all, we could not exsist for there could only be empty space, what i'm saying is without each demension posessing its own laws, there would exsist no no structure, and therefore no reality at all, we would essentially be a product of our own minds (dreaming) with no purpose or direction, but essentially what is happening here is just that, our entire demension is breaking down so we may move into the next, that is ascension, that is why all the weird stuff is happening. Why is this happening you ask, well that is what i'm trying to assert, and floydian is right, you can be spiritual without being godly, for that is just a belief imposed on society, when i stopped believing in god i felt terrible only because i was brought up and told that it would happen that way, lose every belief you ever had essentially.

insanity with a plan, a plan to stop exercising truth as compared to breathing thin air, but to experience truth as all there is to experience, for what do i not already have that exsists? All i can do is enjoy the ride.

I know what you mean, is like what ever you say now in this board is like "prove it? or "give me scientific facts".
I come here to share things that I experience that I don't have an explanation, but lately I don't even feel like do in it anymore.
You now some one is going to jump on your case and make a debate about it.

Agreed. The last thing i need is some fuckwit asking me to "prove" anything. This isn't a court of law. I like to hear peoples ideas and opinions ranging free.

Like the Flat Earth myth or the brain usage myth? You think rebuking old nonsense doesn't get very tiring?

fuckwit?
Taking things a bit personally are we?
(Don't take that personally)

Courts of law are logical?
How did OJ get off?

If somebody's opinion was utter bs... would you still like to hear it?
For instance, if someone were to state, "Homosexuality is contagious"... would you not jump down their throats?

What determines the acceptable range of opinion?

This is why we use logic... not specifically to debunk YOU, personally... just to clarify an acceptable range of opinions.

Does it really matter if you rebuke it Swami? We're not in a court of law are we. You rebuking it obviously doesn't change anyones mind, it just fills up threads with long winded postulations of "logic" which don't mean anything anyway.

Sorry sclorch old son, Just a figure of speech.

Yeah, i don't mind you jumping down the throat of anyone attacking homosexuals, I can just do without posts rammed full of "logic"on a harmless mushroom board. Like i said, this isn't the place for it. If i want to read logic i'll go to a maths board and discuss it with maths people. I come here to read about the effects of shrooms on people.

"If somebody's opinion was utter bs... would you still like to hear it?"

YES!

Correcting erroneous historical and / or scientific "facts" has nothing to do with opinion nor logic.

Slander and personal insult are OK just as long as you don't use rationality. No one here would stand it if I spoke that way, but if you are a spiritual believer, then it is acceptable.

Just a figure of speech? Now that is lame!
