Though I might drop some knowlage bout God...
    #7158845 -

Ok, so I finnally figured out my religious views. Actually, I shouldn't use the word religious, more like spiritual. Religion is to controlling ect. You all probably already know this. Anyway, on to my insights.

Let me tell you first off that I don't think God created humans or the earth. I trust science and totally agree with its findings. I do however belive God created space, time, gravity, light, energy, determined the strong and weak nuclear forces, all that jazz. Now this is what I realized. God created the reality that led to our evolution. We must now worship him, right? Wrong. What makes us think we are so important as to get Gods attention. I mean, we actually think that out of the billions and billions of planets he gives his undivided attention to us. That is why I think it is stupid to pray, because I think it doesnt really matter to God. In five billion years our sun will expand and life on earth will die. Will God care? I think not.
Please feel free to contribute your ideas, but this hread was made mainly because I can't sleep and thought I might share my opinion.

So... god did not create humans or the earth but he created: "space, time, gravity, light, energy, determined the strong and weak nuclear forces, all that jazz"...
Well if created all that, those were the determinant factors which made us, can't you say that god knew what space, time, gravity, energy and so on would create us? :strokebeard:
And if he knew, can't you tell that god also created us?
And if he didn't know, how is he god in the first place, since he doesn't know what his actions caused forward? :sherlock:
And... who created god?
And... how did you determine what was created by god and what was not?
And... how do you know there's such thing as a creator?
And... how do you know there's a god?

Quote:
What makes us think we are so important as to get Gods attention

Again, how do you know there's a god and what exactly do you understand by god since the definitions differ so much?
What attributes does your god have?  :pirate:
What makes you think that we're so meaningless? Just the projection of a big powerful guy who can do more "tricks" that us?

Quote:
That is why I think it is stupid to pray, because I think it doesnt really matter to God.

How did you find out?

Quote:
In five billion years our sun will expand and life on earth will die.

Yes... I'm gonna ask that question again... how do you know that?

i think you have a good idea. I don't think what everyone thinks of 'God' as a benevolent figure favoring the human race as opposed to being an unbias attachment to every organic and inorganic thing out there. Otherwise, the handler of all science whether it be physics, chemistry, calculus, and whatever else that has yet to be discovered.

I mean, if you think about it, we pretty much have existed FOREVER and will exist forever. perhaps our 'souls' may not be within our bodies/we may not be conscious, but according to newton's law of the conservation of mass, matter cannot be destroyed or created. We essentially are the universe, from trillions/well infinity years in the past and whateverthefuck-infinity to the future. What we call the 'human race' may cease.. maybe.. who knows. with technology today it'd be cool to get out in space, because even though it's 5billion years... that means there's no future on Earth. in a very broad/vague sense...

anyhow, yeah from time to time I get this cosmic feeling about the world/life.

I believe that 'God' is a kid with an ant farm. God set the laws of physics and whatnot and sat back to watch the action. There's no reason to think us on earth should be special. It's my beliefs that we are certainly not alone in this universe, in the past and in the present. It is almost a mathematical impossibility that we are the only sentient beings in the universe.

^^ Thats pretty much what I was trying to communicate. Sometimes im not so great at geting the message ascross (escpacially at this hour). mushroomtrip as for your questions. I don't think God cares about us, but the entire life of the universe. He knew he was going to create us, but that doesn't mean that is why he made the universe in he first place. God could have created the universe for us, but I find that highly unlikely. I think our egos want us to think that. We are all so special blah blah. Life is simply one big chemical reaction. When we ask ourselves, why doesnt God stop the wars and killing ect. God might think its better if the earth was slammed with a giant meteor and all life as we know it was destroyed.

Human race is but a tiny tiny speck upoon the universe. All Im trying to say is that IF GOD DOES EXIST, then he has the entire universe to look after not just us. God shouldnt be biased to humans.

First of all, I don't think that this Universe exists for us, because we're part of the universe and it's only when we judge ourselves as being separated from it confusion arises.
It's like our hand would think that the rest of our body is here just to serve it.
We're part of the whole, no more and no less "important" than anything else.
And I don't necesarrility think that those who believe the Universe was created for us suffer from ego trips. At least that's not the ultimate cause. We have to look deeper. Those "ego trips" have a cause of their own. And the cause is exactly what I mentioned earlier: this feeling of alienation, of us being something separated from the rest of the world.
And that feeling of alienation resides exactly from the idea of a "creator". If our minds are tuned into this idea, we have a certain feeling that we could have never existed without that something/somebody that created us and our world. That specific mind set creates guilt trips and inferiority trips. So we separate ourselves.
We are a part of this Universe, just like anything else.

So tell me now... why this idea of god?
Where does it come from?
How do you know that there's a god/creator?

What makes you think this?

You provide no rationale other than to say "this is so because I say it is so".

Republican Values:

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

Interesting thoughts. One thing you nailed on the head: God definitely created jazz. (The good stuff, anyway.)

My body I will give to pleasures,

to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

GOD is everything. We are just an aspect of it, we are god, this is what we are made of, because within everything in infinity, there is no-thing that is seperate, all just one value. Thats what i have discovered until here. lol
LOVE 4 ALL!

The mind is a creative tool. It searches to protect you, through message sensations(feelings). It is no different than a computer, you need to make sure its anti-virus program is in check and that it doesnt have a script that limits your experience, because of to much precaution.

And remember the computer does not appear to respond to words of anger and frustration - just give it input, in the form of new meanings that you know to be true and its messages to you and the limits it lays out for you, will change.

Guilt is an outcome of believing you are the cause of the problems.

Yet, we are not a cause to something, we see is negative or bad - Unless you believe your intentions are directed towards a bad outcome....

First off, I think that your ideas are interesting and are inspired, but I have some serious questioning to present you with in regards to this.

Now, why do we human beings, typically, strive to define the nature of reality through the word "g*d"? Specifically, why did you decide to take this word and redefine it is to that it would make the most sense, as a concept, to yourself?

I personally think that the word, "g*d", is a mimetical virus. A meme, for those who don't know, is defined as "A unit of cultural information, such as a cultural practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another.".

Now, observe "g*d", and the phenomenon of these human minds, as they continue to define the nature of reality through this meme, and, in the process, alter the meaning of the idea of g*d to best fit their own conceptions.

In every case, it is first assumed that the meme, "g*d", is valid, true, and, from that point, it is simply a means of modifying it to prevent its existence from being challenged by contradicting, valid evidence.

Is it necessary to continue to propagate this meme? Its existence is empty of any established identity or relevance to reality. As a means of communicating an idea to others, it serves no purpose, as it could mean anything, and the elaborations onto specifically what it is intended to mean define themselves. "G*d is everything", "G*d is reality".... wait a minute, I thought reality was perfectly capable of representing its meaning on its own.

The human mind has been sick for quite some time, and our mind's immune system has had a lot of trouble maintaining our health in the face of this incredibly adaptive virus. Fortunately, it isn't difficult to cure oneself. One simply has to start thinking for oneself.

You just use he for a non-sexed God, or think God is a he?

"We must now worship him, ... "
"We must now worship God, ..."

It is even the same amount of letters...
