Armenian Genocide: Forgotten History
    #3639664 -

When one thinks of genocide, he or she most likely thinks of the Jewish Holocaust. Predating that, though, were the atrocities that were committed during the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The christian Armenians were slaughtered not by one, but two Turkish governments. A sultan who was taking part in genocides was overthrown by a nationalistic group, which only increased the pace of the killings.

During the course of the genocide in Turkey, foreign intervention was never taken against them. The acts of violence were put in newspapers and magazines all around the world, yet all people did was condemn the acts.

The most disgusting part is that to this day, Turkey refuses to acknowledge, let alone apologize for the acts committed. All evidence and paperwork that proves that these acts occurred is dismissed as "frauds".

In an era where it seems everything is given a memorial (or at least a motion-picture deal), I think this is something that needs to be recognized.

I believe if anyone even makes a reference to this in Turkey they can be arrested.

I don't doubt it. It's disgusting, especially since I don't believe they were punished for this. I could be wrong though.
