IME, gays tend to be more cultured, and have a greater appreciation for the arts, so far from being the downfall of society, I dare say that they have a positive impact on it.

wow, that was full of passion!

so, how come no one brought up the question about hateful judgmental people being the downfall of society? really, if haters are always caught up in persecution and conflict over the same old shit day in and out, where is the opportunity for progressive growth to flourish within?

Sooo what prompted this post paw paw? did one of the men who likes men in OTD put your panties in a bunch so you posted this here in the hopes any Bible Thumpers hanging out in the religious forum would shred them up for ya?

Well, there is no doubt, you can count on a Bible Thumper to fuel some hating for you when you need it.

I saw a show where the research was done and found to be conclusive. There is some tiny gland in the brain, that is an inch long in hetero women and a half inch long in hetero men. They found them to be the opposite in gay people.

I only hope this research finds its way quickly into public awareness so this crap about it being a choice and the hating that follows will stop.

I just got the image in my head of the face of that 15 year old boy, tied to the school yard fense and beaten to death for being gay. To be his mom, I can't imagine her pain.

When is it going to stop Paw Paw?

And so I can leave off as my sig says, I will reread Phlucks suggestion about the sweaty husky men he thinks you should service until you figure it out.

I'm surprised people even bother debating something like this...

There is 100% nothing wrong with being gay.

For someone to have an understandable reason for being against homosexuality, it would have to be because their religion says that it is wrong.

Anyone who is not using the bible as their backing for why homosexuality is wrong is simply fishing for an excuse. Ridiculous reasons such as "it's not natural!" make absolutely no sense and are so easily destroyed.

If someone has a reason that homosexuality is wrong besides the fact that God says that it is so, then please speak up now as I would like to hear your logic!

sadly I don't think this information would help. Black people didn't choose to be black, but it didn't stop Paw Paw's grandfather and his good ol' boys from lynching them

No, if anything finding a conclusive link between homosexuality and some sort of genetic "defect" would be MUCH worse than saying homosexuality is a "choice".

Because once people have a genetic "flaw" to blame homosexuality on...they will do so. Then they will segregate the "genetically inferior" homosexuals.

Could you imagine what will happen if they find homosexuality to be a "medically treatable disease"? Will gays be forced to take medication to "control their urges" in much the same way that we force "mentally ill" people to take medications? Will we start locking gays up in "hospitals" so we can "treat their condition"?

I know a man that thinks they should get hormone therapy so they get cured..
I think his main argument (and only) against them is that he feels
disgusted by them.

And allso he has a lot prejudgements.
He actually thinks that homosexuals are dangerous and has "stories"
about a pall of his that wondered of into a gay bar by accident and got "attacked" by them hehe

He allso thinks that lesbians are dangerous because they often kill people when they get jealous

That kind of ignorance is indestructable and I think it won't go away until we have a world filled with a generation that grew up thinking it doesn't matter if you are gay or not. And we need a couple more decades for that.

Yes, another highlight of why childhood development is so important. We are what we learn as children. This has a direct medical link: neurons can change their connections easily up until about age 12 where the connections settle down. We can still learn new things right through adulthood (some new connections can be made)...but most of what we are comes from those first 12 years of development.

I dunno, man. I was actually kinda homophobic in Jr. High, but then got over it in High School. But I think my previous homophobia had more to do with conformity than with any deep-seeded disgust or hatred.

I find it funny , though, when people say things like that:
"I won't alow it , I wasn't rased like that" or something similar.
They are aware that their beliefs are programed by their parents, yet
they still hold on to them.

Guess what? I'm gay. I'm also a home owner, have a job, have 2 degrees and am working on a 3rd. I'm also socially active and contribute to several charity organizations. And for the sake of props to my ego, which I imagine your whole life must revolve around, I'd be willing to wager that I've traveled more, had INFINITELY more and better sex (with both men and women) and have better drugs than you'll ever have. I'm also healthy and plan to stay that way. BTW, I'm only 24. So tell me, what do you have and how do you contribute to society?

--------------------
Everything is better than it was the last time.  I'm good.

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

well that is a sad consideration. I can see where people who want to hate will just hate and will make up reasons to do so if necessary.

Acceptance is the solution but how to generate it in others? It starts with how parents raise their children and the examples people set.

I'll say it again as I said about the "beware" against reading Celestine Prophecy, which is benevolent and has caused no harm, which, deaf reconsidered when we pulled back the perspective, that the book which has caused more, hate, harm war, and murder beyond comprehension is the Bible.

Lets face it, all this hate and intolerance against gays is generated from the Bible where God says it is sinful and wrong and an abomination and all that nonsense. Didn't someone here once put up a quote from it where it said gays should be put to death?

Why do harmless posts like the 7 step thingy shroominism put up come under attack, but people keep ignoring the biggest menacing piece of literature ever created throughout all of time here?

I'm fuck en confused about peoples priorities and sense of rational.

It's not even the book, its just words in print. Where does this fear and hate come from? People choose to believe in and support the God that supposedly said those things. It's people who want to hate and look for any reason too.

Well, I'm going to get out this thread now, its depressing.

I think the voice of reason and tollerance was louder in this case, no need for worrying

Just my 2 cents. I am concerned that many such threads flourish with no intervention on the part of the management. A rational discussion about our differences is one thing, but to come right out and condemn people as evil is another. This happens while some fairly tame behavior is strongly moderated.

I don't think you can say that hatred of gays comes only from the Bible! There are many parts of the world who did not even know the Bible existed until recently, yet I don't think many (if any) of them had a very tolerant approach towards anything like homosexuality.

As you said: the Bible is just a book. Written by humans. Humans, like most upper forms of life, are naturally inclined to dislike the odd and extremely different (it's a survival mechanism). We didn't like gays, so God must not like gays, so the book says we mustn't like gays.
