I believe it's a reaction to environment as well. It's always after hard rain or cold that they turn black. It's possible there is a black pin pheno but I think it's getting misinterpreted

He's anyone ever experienced food poisoning like symptoms after consuming ovoids? I dried and powedered the ones that I found below and last night my girlfriend and i took about 4 grains of rice worth of the powder and about 4 hours later she was up puking. It very well could have been other factors as her stomach was bugging her throughout the day but i just wanted to allay any fears she may have so she isn't worrying all day.
D.little91 said:
Finally found them! There were maybe 100 or so but I only grabbed a few because I didn't really see bruising on a lot of them. Problem is now my gf wont eat them because she thinks we will go into a coma from chemicals on the woodchips.
I'm gonna go back soon and grab some more!

I will also be putting stem butts in some different mulch patches around me.

Becoming nauseated is not that uncommon especially during the come up. How experienced is she? Did she experience psychedelic effects? I see some good examples of Psilocybe Ovoideocystidiata in your photos, the only one that concerns me is photo #3.  Is this specimen represented in any other of the photos? Probably no cause for concern if she's no longer experiencing any negative symptoms.

I checked my Pa. ovoid spot Fri. eve. but it was blown out....the debris piles I saw them on the previous week were gone or underwater. Switched to higher ground morel spots with some success.

No offense, but some people seem to pick really old ovoids. Could be the decomposition that's causing stomach trouble. Some people happily pick mushrooms I consider rotten and would only eat if dying of hunger.

Just my view.

Yeah....desperate people do desperate things. I would at least make a hot tea out of them if that's all you can find. At least that will kill some of the nasties.

I checked one of my Maryland spots tonight and was pleasantly surprised. The lesser celandine is pretty much dead now and some ovoids have been able to poke through. I think the 2nd flush is starting and have noticed more growing directly out of the debris piles. Will post pics later.:mushroom2:

So for anyone asking what my spot looked like a took another visit today and realized it's not just one box elder but 5 and some still standing I picked some more after I realized how big my spot actually is  the first pic is where I initially found them yesterday but today I actually looked up at my surroundings and found 4 more downed elders less than 50 feet in either direction

greencrush420, harrytrips, congrats on your finds!!:super:

Thayendanegea, That sucks you weren't able to reach those spots again.  We were down by that water today and it was really high.  It's been awhile since I've seen it up in the trees like that.  Glad at least your spots around here were doing well.

koods, Yeah those look real nice!!

Went out to 2 different MD spots today.  I was surprised at how well the first spot was doing.  Hoping to check out more areas along there tomorrow, just to see what's up.  The second spot was just ok.  Seems like things are in transition into round 2 in most areas.  Here's the pics of some of today's observations.

Stoned thought but some "ovoid" pics resemble Psilocybe makarorae don't they??
Some finds are giant thick - more like subaerigs.
Some are tiny petite with nipples like makarorae.

Badass finds and pics.

Love that long stemmed variety!  I usually see those trying to find their way out of the celendine.  It's so crazy how they wind their way thru the vegetation to reach the light.  Sweet finds!! :super:
