Your insight was interesting, but you've just demonstrated perfectly in your last line exactly how you misunderstood something which is otherwise very simple, in the first place.

Christianity, to name but one religion which you've included in that sweeping, unspecific statement only proposes 'God' as a man so that the layman can possibly comprehend by way of allegory.  Even described as an 'energy'', we are still perhaps illustrating by allegory, through strain to communicate the ineffable.  It's of no revelation in any arena that 'God' is not a man.  By its very definition, 'God' is a 'heavenly being'.

For those who comprehend it at its rawest 'form', 'God' is simply an initial cause and an ultimate all.

This is theology at the basic level.  You've got more to look forward to when you choose not to shun the very texts from which a large chunk of theology is based upon.  As the proof shows here, you may just find yourself again singing from the same hymn sheet - only in a different language.
