In our hypothetical, if how much I care determines if you commit suicide, then we're not talking about the kind of conviction that I have mentioned. In that case, yeah as a friend I'd probably try and talk you out of it because it's in my best interest.  My point in this thread wasn't to say one shouldn't try and talk someone out of it, it was that wanting someone to stay in the shit fest is just as selfish as wanting to leave everyone else in it. This thread was about selfishness, and I'm trying to illustrate that it's selfish all around.

No one thing would determine if I commit suicide, it would be a lot of culminating factors.
