Well, just saw this thread. Now I've suspected it for some time and this just goes to show it's true, Huehuecoyotl, you are one wise dude!

In reality so much shit comes out of me some of it has to make sense. It is the law of averages. OldWoodSpecter is also correct in his statement that maybe I am not responsible with firearms.

The point is to play. To stimulate thinking, wonder, joy, and everything in between. Don't play coy. Give us your beliefs for the day and we won't hold you to them.

I'm not saying people should not look for the truth. I'm saying that they should keep looking for it

You misunderstand Science if you think it stops looking for truth when it thinks it found it.

Science is all about testing truths to see if they'll hold up. When they don't, they're adjusted and ruthlessly tested again. Repeat indefinitely and you have the essence of Science. And that's its beauty: it's a self-correcting, self-improving system.

but at this point nothing can really make sense because there is not enough data

How can you say nothing makes sense. We've made sense enough to build airplanes and spaceships, x-ray machines and atomic bombs, computers and networks.

None of these things came from monks trying to make sense of things; they all came from Sciecne trying to make sense of things. If nothing can really makes sense as you say, then none of these inventions would have come to be.

Edit: it IS fair to say that nothing makes complete sense.

we made airplanes, but we won't really know what makes them run and how they exist in the first place.

Of course, Woodie. It doesn't make sense how the universe came to be, but that's a far cry from knowing how aerodynamics make my airplane fly.

That not everything makes sense doesn't prevent other things from making sense. Science has given us the sense we have so far and it keeps making progress toward the ultimate truth.

That ultimate truth may be unachievable, I dunno. Maybe that's what you meant?

I didn't say it's unachivable. In fact I think it is achivable, but people limit themselfs by saying stupid things like: "some things can not be explained" or "we will never do this, it is impossible to achieve"

Careful spychomime. I was just thought streaming when I wrote that stuff for one. It appeals to me because I started off life living with in a highly restrictive environment. I have spent most of my life sense looking to break down every wall I discover. I've been wanting to bust out and bust free.

I've been so successful at it that now, I am all over the place with few self imposed boundaries and I even crack those apart now and again and have to build them back up.

The upset is the freedom to be and see so much more. It also helps me with creative problem resolution and more options are available to my vision.

However, because I am now so easily distracted, I lost an ability to stay focused on goals. My follow through is awful. I see maybe one out of every 10 ambitions through as a result. I'm really enjoying life, yet feel like more of potential could be realized that isn't because I have been fighting against walls tearing them down when to realize goals, what that thought stream had me realize was that I need to be working at selectively putting some up again to keep strong energy channeled through to a goals manifestation.

Sometimes my husband would just tell me to get focused and that sounded like nails running down a chalk board to me.

What will I miss out on that's on the other side of the walls?

That's the part I say be careful with.

Sometimes, I see people who stay intensely focused and are able to channel their time and energy into great accomplishments and I envy that, yet I think of all they missed out on along the way. they never noticed the beauty of that flower and stopped to smell it. They never noticed the funny bumper sticker and had a good laugh over it. They didn't take the time to see someone right next to them.

I will say this. If you really want something more then anything else, then putting up the self imposed limitations is everything. It's the only way to channel your energy into the manifestation of it.

I use to have a different understanding of how to do that. my husband and I called it the "no other option" philosophy. We would set our sites on something and say to ourselves that there was no other option but the attainment of that. It worked like a charm. It also took a toll on the life outside of those walls. We used it when we were running a business, but since have sold it and haven't used it.

What Bruce Lee said was a way for me to understand how having no limitations has limit ted me from realizing goals. At the same time, having no limits has helped me solve a lot of problems I wouldn't have if I thought there was only one way to skin a cat.

I'm still making sense of it all myself with a lot of reflection and tweeking. Those tactics are used by pioneers and they can help to pioneer your way to wherever you want to be. I didn't come with them myself. I've just been inspired by people who realized much of their greatness. I like to study them.

thanks gettinjiggywithit. the placing limits philosophy appeals to me for exactly the same reasons, I have all these great ideas and things i want to accomplish but the follow through is minimal. It seems that to incorporate some of that philosophy into my life would help me to achieve some of my goals. I used to also think that removing my limitations would give me freedom and while it has it's benefits, it has left me, I feel, stagnating in my potential. I agree with you that life isn't only about achieving goals but I there does need to be a balance, for myself anyway, between the ideas and the actions.
