It’s not like we didn’t see this coming. Anyone with a brain knew trump was a career scammer and criminal. He was on trial for civil fraud when he was elected.

That’s not what he’s in trouble for. He conspired to hide the documents he had when the government asked for them. Using his lawyers, he lied to the government when they asked if he had any more, then he directed his employees to erase the tapes that showed them moving the documents so the government wouldn’t be able to find them. He also shared information from classified documents with reporters and other random people.

Here’s a little secret. Everyone in DC mishandles classified materials.

Anyway, from what I understand, Trump was charged with obstructing, and also mishandling of classified docs... two separate charges.

A lot of them are black. Black people don't like seeing the justice system used as a political tool, and that is how this looks to many people.

However any of you feel, the fact of the matter is, Trump is not the first president to commit crimes, and his crimes aren't anywhere close to the worst crimes committed by a president (Torture programs, indescriminately droning/machine gunning people in afghanistan, etc.) If we are going to go after him, we should go after all of them. 

It is a good thing to see a former president actually have his day in court... still, nothing will likely come of it, and it will only bolster his campaign.


You’re never going to see a president charged for crimes related to his official duties that doesnt involve abuse of power. Every drone strike, torture program and war crime has been legally justified by government lawyers. The courts may review the legality of these actions, and enjoin them, but there is no criminal liability involved.

There is no charge of “mishandling documents.” That is not a crime. He was charged with the willful retention of national security information and obstruction of Justice.

Clinton didn’t illegally wipe her servers. She deleted emails from the server that were not government related. Spam and other personal stuff. Perfectly normal shit government employees do everyday. Regardless, nothing she or Biden did was even remotely close to the actions trump took.

Trump has four criminal cases going on.

New York: hush money
DC: January 6th
Georgia: state election fraud and forgery of official documents
Florida: classified documents

BTW, he wasn’t convicted of paying hush money. That’s not illegal. The crime was laundering his payments through his lawyer making it look like they were legitimate business expenses.

How about we just talk about the way Trump is being pursued in court, over things no other business person in America is being prosecuted for:

Things like this make it look politically motivated, rather than simply being in the interest of carrying out the law. Black people, more than anyone, hate to see the justice system weaponized, because it has been weaponized against them their whole lives.

It is astounding... to me.. to see so many black people coming out for Trump. It boggles my mind, honestly. To me, this is the best explanation.

I don’t think most black people get upset when billionaires get snagged for white collar crimes. Maybe the propaganda works on low information voters, but I seriously doubt most black people are upset that a white criminal was found guilty.

Falsifying business records is a pretty big umbrella.

Are you saying sharktank guy is completely off-base? I wonder how many people were charged with that crime before she took office? Or how many of those came after Trump, to appear... fair and balanced?

How do I explain what? The fact that you think black people are falling in love with trump because of these prosecutions? I don’t think is true. It’s just another narrative pushed by Trump supporters. If you get three black people to show up at a trump rally, that is all you see. They put them at the front of the crowd and make sure everyone knows they were there. Trump held a rally in the Bronx, which is like 75% black and Hispanic. Almost the entire crowd was white, but we certainly got endless pictures of the ten black people wearing their maga hats.

I do think there is more support among 20 something black men, but black women and women in general are more turned off by Trump than ever.

As for shark tank guy. Wow a rich white NY businessman doesn’t like people being prosecuted for fake accounting schemes. Shocking. Why the fuck would you even listen to someone who seems to go against everything you stand for. He’s a capitalist pig. Literally the worst kind of money grubbing leech on society.

How do you explain this?

If you read that article, and look at the history... it seems that Democrats won the black vote for decades to come, every time they did something big for them, and it has been a while since the dems have given them anything.

I think the economy is partly to blame, also... but aside from those things, I have heard a lot of black people actually say that it is because of the political prosecutions.

I will listen to anyone, if I think they know what they are talking about. Sure, I am not a fan of wealthy capitalists, and shark tank is a very predatory show...

But I think he probably knows what he is talking about, with regard to this court case.

Well, firstly, let's put Trump aside for a moment. Our justice system puts innocent people in prison all of the time. You don't seriously believe they only go after guilty people, or only convict guilty people, do you?

Now add to that the fact that he is the likely winner of the next presidential election, and people absolutely despise him.

Yes he’s lying. I personally I am not worried the government will prosecute me for laundering hush money payments through my lawyer, and then calling those payments business related legal expenses with the intent to obscure the real purpose of those payments, which was to prevent a damaging sex scandal from coming to light right before an election. Nobody else on the planet has to worry about getting prosecuted for that because trump is the only scumbag doing it.

Well, Trump was not innocent. Not only did they have the payments Michael Cohen made to stormy Daniels, they had the check trump wrote to reimburse him as “legal expenses.” They had the testimony of the publisher who Trump asked to buy the rights to stormy Daniels story to bury it, and who refused to because he was worried it was illegal. There was an audio tape of trump discussing a similar deal with his lawyer for another woman. Michael cohen went to prison in 2018 for his role in the scheme, but Trump wasn’t prosecuted because he was the sitting president.
