This is an old question, so I'm not going to go into it. I just want to make it clear that being logical and being rational are two separate things. Perhaps the main element that separates the two is emotion, which in part forms the basis of intuition. It's analagous to the difference between knowledge and wisdom, which is experience.

because the united states is in the business of war. when there is a war, we make insane amounts of money. realize when i say WE, i mean the large companies that have military and government contracts for making clothes, shoes, food, guns, toilet paper, bullets, bombs, gasoline, training, etc. i mean the list would go on forever, but the ones that really make all this money are the ones with defense contracts, that are typically done in a buddy-buddy like fashion.

the best theory i have to why we chose Iraq, was because Saddam was about to turn all of the oil over to Euros as it's primary currency. If that were to happen, our economy would have been hit much harder than it was, especially with all the bullshit going on in the gulf.

all of this shit costs taxpayers money, but it pays the politicians and it beefs up the DoD and DoJ budgets. Really, Iraq is just a small piece of the puzzle.

then again there are plenty of connections between Iraq and Babylon, and the religious / social / mental-manipulation reasons behind it. but that belongs on another forum.
