In truth, I don't have a problem killing lots of people...I don't really see it as such a bad thing. All of those people were going to die eventually, anyway. My bigger issue is that we are constantly being given a skewed view. From the time we are born, we are taught that the United States is the good guy, but historically this isn't true. We have always stolen whatever we wanted from whomever had it at the time. From the time we gave smallpox infested blankets to the indians to the time we overthrew hawaii's government. I love this country, but I distrust the media and the government immensely.

I'd like to see you try to back that one up, especially since a large portion of the Democratic party happens to be Jewish.
BTW: I didn't say Sharon supported terrorists, but you said Saddam was the biggest threat to peace in that region, and Sharon is pretty high up there as far as threats to peace go.

But the argument, and indeed the entire thread, is about the fact that we are not being told about the suffering that OUR TROOPS have created...

Any evidence for this? Or is it just the usual dishonesty and lies?

Why is it that people throw around words like "liberal" and "conservative" as if they mean anything. The difference between the two is so small now that neither term is relevant. If you glom some sort of security or empowerment by aligning yourself with a term, then so be it, but neither term applies to my way of thinking. I don't see how any rational person living in the world as it today can simply align themselves with one or the other.
The world is so complicated now that every issue has many sides and a person has to be willing to see the world as a whole and the world of the details. How can one all-encompassing political mindset help with that? If a person isn't looking at things openly, and ready to change their opinion easily, then that person has stopped growing. To state a position and stand behind it is to stop exploring.

In the real world I would agree with you to a certain extent. This site is full of far left mindsets that claim they are not liberals though.

Maybe they realise how stupid it is to apply labels like that?
-------------------- The above is an extract from my fictional novel, "The random postings of Edame".
In the beginning was the word. And man could not handle the word, and the hearing of the word, and he asked God to take away his ears so that he might live in peace without having to hear words which might upset his equinamity or corrupt the unblemished purity of his conscience.
And God, hearing this desperate plea from His creation, wrinkled His mighty brow for a moment and then leaned down toward man, beckoning that he should come close so as to hear all that was about to be revealed to him.
"Fuck you," He whispered, and frowned upon the pathetic supplicant before retreating to His heavens.

I dislike labels altogether.
